Too bad none of it will help 3DMARK scores... but I suppose this has a place in the world too, I bet Linux gains more strength after Vista is released!

The last link was down or broken BTW

3d mark 2000 is never benched. 01 is starting to become obsolete. Pcmark04 doesnt complete all the test. FTL all the way around.

Notice how Wine cleans house on all the disk, memory, and CPU tests, and then bombs out on graphics? That should tell you something about the underlying system... if Wine supported all the graphics modes, it'd probably clean house in that too.

cough Directx cough. Most games use direct X, so even IF games were ported over to linux what would they use?

Someone just needs to give the OpenGL a good kick in the ass. At least it would be cheaper than DX

The fact is Linux pwns Winblows, sorry to break it to you mr cpt planet, it does, just because those benchys are almost obsolete your just looking for excuses, once linux has its own graphics system such as directx has for MS Winblows, itll be a prime competitor.

For now, i want to see Sisoft SANDRA run on a linux Distro, figures my 64bit ubuntu doesnt support wine and the manual way around it isnt working to well for me. But after i get ubuntu x86 installed benchmarking in wine will be top prority. Cause linux is just better

Yes linux runs more stable and uses alot less resources. I do like linux and have used it several times. I used to have it installed on one of my old pcs. However we are talking about benchmarking here Windows is the main OS that everybody uses so of course there going to make benchmarks for that. Not enough people use linux for them to make a full blown 3dmark05 or w/e for linux because most benchmarkers use Windows.

my experiance with native linux games on my hardware such as UT2004 is that they run alot faster and smoother than there windows versions. It's not just the avrage FPS aswell, but also the lack of any stuttering at all as the disk is accessed or just randomly. It just stays silky smooth unlike the windows version which likes to stutter every now and again.

Actual ram usage of my fave distor ubuntu isn't that great with it's stock install but it's not billed as light weight and it's only as bad as xp while looking and running a whole lot better. Also if the ram usage is annoying it's relativly easy to get it down to much lower levels than XP.

If you want to see hardware tested and benchmarked under linux I advise going to:
