Yea ln2 would be sweet but worthless. Hes now limited by the motherboard and memory. He wasnt even pushing the max vcore to the cpu. Either I or he will have some nice Pi times posted later today. Just FYI guys he did this within like the first hour of dicing which is nuts.

That's some very impressive stuff. But I gotta be honest, I would rather see how far you can push it with peltires or a vapochill, something that can be sustained over the long term.

Still, damn impressive overclock.

Nice official OC, however I have to ask just WHY? This serves no purpose except look how much time and money I can waste for an unsustainable un-usable OC. This seems completely, well umm, unimpressive. You took some of the coldest available coolant and poured it into a pot on top of the CPU. Of course it's gonna be cold. But just long enough for a speed test, or a reading. Have you considered the consequences of basically freezing your CPU then applying Extreme heat to it in a short amount of time. Hell if you have that much money to throw away on gear then send it to me, and I'll use. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying this was a fly by night job with a paper towel holder and ice, but to do all this just to get a high score. It's a worthless number that is un-usable for anything. I mean if you want to have high O.C.'s then acquire some Gov. Technology. Like the memory made from Algae. Basically a double EEPROM, no more RAM. That is if you want fast boot times. Or lets consider just using a faster CPU. Now I know everyone is gonna cry but that takes the fun out of O.C. or I can't buy a CPU that fast. Well actually you can, if you have enough $$ , time, and contacts. Besides try looking somewhere besides Newegg or the common market place. Also these speeds however impressive for what they started with, are old news sort of speak. IDF 2002: Intel demos 4.6GHz Pentium 4 this was a clip from 2002 on a damn HT P4 only liquid cooled and stable. Also history showed with AMD that MHZ doesn't mean faster, just look at the 64bit jump. Everyone had to have one ditching there 3.0+ GHZ Intel Monsters for the slower 2.2 GHZ 64bit that ran faster. Also if you need more proof just look at SGI, these are some of the most impressive machines built with in most cases "Old technology". My point in this article is just why try to push the envelope and damage your equipment for something that isn't even stable.

well besides the obvious and retarted amount of typing you did which is not only hard to follow but needs more spacing, youd see that this is on intels latest offering chip the conroe series. not to mention it doesnt start at 3.0ghz but around 2ghz. it pwns amd six ways to sunday at stock clocks in everything and runs a stable super pi 1m time in the 10 to 9 second range when they were puttign out the first engineering samples.

as for you buy a faster cpu. explain to me who on gods green earth has a faster cpu availible for public usage than intels conroe series atm. and even then the best they get stock is 2.93 at 1000 dollars.

to overclock it that high is extremely impressive on a chip clocked around 2ghz.

Your really lucky this isnt PR of old or i would have continued to tear you a new asshole for your dumbass comments.

you ovbiously havent overclocked seriously, and if you have, why the hell would you post crap about extreme cold then extreme heat. the comp isnt run without the dry ice. so it cannot heat up much at all. its actually the other way round so the colder it gets the better it does.

as for meaningless numbers, your about as dense as an oak tree or something. you realize that companies give world record holders free stuff right? that intel will be thrilled to hear of the great press, and that Sad might end up being a very well known person due to this.

go read all the posts on planets dry ice pots. the computational fluid dynamics work done on it, and how 4ghz was the accepted speed for the best conroes to this point then come back and whine about whatever im sure youll look almost as assinine as you do now.

I fully expect youll come back with some whiney retort or something else about how bad ass you really are. but stop thread crapping on this guys extreme accomplishment.

Sad great job. Its always nice to see the folks close to home pull off crazy **** like that.

planet hats off to you as well, its gotta feel great to see your pot in action and working well. on a conroe.

It's about the achievement, not the impractability of it. The current world land speed record is ~760mph. Yet would that car be able to drive on normal roads, or operate without a team of dedicated engineers? No. It's about a unique achievement - anyone can get a Conroe and OC it to 3ghz, but not anyone can get this kind of speed out of this CPU.

TeraByte - this is the Benchmarking Results section - not the 24/7 Overclock Performance section. No one said it needs to be substainable - so why do you?
