Ok so I have tried all I can think of to troubleshoot this and haven't gotten anywhere with it so I come to my fellow benchmarking crew to lend a hand.

Dang if I can't get pcmark05 to run correctly on my machine. It will pass every test in the program but one. It gives me an error every time about it not being able to do the transparent windows test. I have tried the two suggestions they give in their FAQ's about setting your machine for best apperance and making shure you don't have windows classic theme selected. Other than that I am at a loss as to what to try. I have the current 1.10ver of the software from futuremark if that helps any. Their website says that those two settings will fix this problem and it seems on my machine it doesn't. If you guys can come up with any new suggestions I would greatly appreciate your input.

I hate PCMARK 05!!!
(Compared to 04 and 02 that is)

It is a damn picky biaaaatch!

First... you need to use the damn microsoft download for encoding (I think 04 does too) and then you have to use the high visual quality settings, and the non classic view...argh!

And to top it off, if your OC is just a bit too high...you don't get a score after waiting 15 minutes for the damn thing to run! (And it's damn boring to watch too...lol)

Other benches wil run fine at the same OC, but not PAB 05 (Picky ass biaatch, tired of typing it out...lol)

Try running at stock or a mild OC and see if it passes then.

What is the microsoft download you are refering to.

As for the other stuff, I have it set for the high visual settings and it's on the windows xp theme (not classic). The system OC is minimal. Ram is at rated speed (ddr500) and cpu is 400mhz below peak (opteron 146 @2500, will go to 2900 stable). Vid card is new and running at stock.

Media encoder 9, it should have detected it when doing the install of 05, and warned you if you didn't have it.
(Or did you just ignore it and forget about it...lol)

Ok, yup I got that. I was hoping maybe we were onto something there. Shucks.

Reset your Bios to defaults, and make any tweeks you may need to make it run
(Like slightly higher ram volts, or adjust timings etc)

You could also have a corrupted download or OS.

I can see why you hate pcmark05. I'm starting to think this may not be worth the trouble. I'll try turning back the oc's just to see how it's gonna work out. I'll post how it goes sometime tommorow when I get a chance to give it a good try.

It took me at least an hour to get my settings correct enough to run that benchmark. It is a pain in the ass.
