| Got my second 7900GS in the mail yesterday, heres the results ![]() These are de-badged Gainward Golden Samples and overclocked from 450/660 to core/mem to 645/765. The one I bought first would happily bench at 650/800, but the second refuses to budge from the above stable speeds... which is rather annoying... but still, im not complaining at a score of over 12k in '05! Will post up scores in Hwbot threads and run e-penisMark'06 later. ORB Last edited by Dex; 27-September-06 at 04:26 PM. | ||

They're de-badged Golden Samples, which some company called Palit have slapped their own sticker on... I found a review of the card on TweakTown, the PCB is identical but mine have a different HSF attached, which is far superior to the one pictured in the review. I picked mine up from Overclockers.co.uk for £126.89 ($240) a piece inc. VAT ![]()

| Your 12v rail is a bit on the low side (11.92) so when you load it up with SLI, I am sure it drops below spec (12.1~11.9) What brand and model do you have? If you have any "Extra's" like lighting and hard drives, disconnecting them may help a tad. You could also try swapping the two cards around, I bet if you look at the temps, on card is a bit warmer. I also noticed your Motherboard Bios is 12-05, ther may be a newer one, but that probably won't have a major effect on performance. The other thing I noticed is your ram, you may try looser timings at a higher FSB, that may give you a slight bump in performance...how much voltage are you using? Very nice scores overall...just a few tips that came to mind if you are looking for a few more points ![]() | ||

| Thanks for the reply Necro, im not really interested in squeezing every single point out of them, im more interested in real world performance. My PSU is Hiper Type R 580w SLi model with dual 12v rails. I disconnected a few fans and such, but most of my stuff was still connected when I benched, including four drives... Anyway im done benching now and off to enjoy some screaming high res gaming ![]() | ||

Running SLi doesn't mean the score will double, an extra 3000 or so points is pretty damn good. I wouldn't expect the score to go much higher than that. Still it depends on what software your suing, Dex might find theres a bigger difference between 1 card and 2 in 3d mark 06 since its newer.

Maybe theres some special way to enable SLI in AQ3? Though your CPU score is the one that seems low to me... ![]() My score - 2.5GHz Venice and GTO2 660MHz/600MHz GFX - 13654 CPU - 13421 Total - 90457 http://img102.imageshack.us/img102/6330/aq33go.jpg Your Score - 2.8GHz Opty and SLI 7900GS GFX - 15054 CPU - 11068 Total - 89609 http://forums.pcapex.com/attachments...s-aquamark.jpg Last edited by Zaltan; 28-September-06 at 04:04 PM.

My single card 6800Ultra runs were in the high 5 to low 6k range in 05, but there may have been a little more left in there..but maxed out with ultra low ambient temps, I was able to get 12500 in SLI with an Opty 146 at 3GHZ+ So it is possible to nearly doulbe your performance with SLI, not all games will double in framerate (Though some will) 3DMARK is still just a benchmark, and does not always reflect real world results.

Yeah, I thought I'd had some basis for thinking SLi could double your 3dmark score. But yeah, you're correct in saying 3dMark is only a benchie, it's real games that matter.

| Having thought about it, Necro has a point as my 3D1 in single GPU mode scored about 3.5k in '05, SLi enable bumped it to almost 7k. So yeah I guess SLi can theoretically double scores. In my case im guessing to take full advantage of another 7900GS, it would require a CPU with a bit more horsepower, as adding the 7900GS only added an extra 3.5k or so. | ||
