Hardware Hoe-Bot
Post hwbot evaluation & new features

Hi all,

I asume you guys are happy with the hwbots who maintain the rankings, as you're still using them. Some feedback would help me a lot to get a finished product though, so if there is anything that annoyes you, now is the time to spill your guts!

example requests to make the bot rankings easier:
- wizard for setting up a new bot (planned)
- mail notification to moderators when bot fails (planned)
- better faq (planned)
- ranking in first post customizable
- ...

For those who haven't kept an eye on hwbot development, these are some new feats implemented the past 2 months:

Community based benchmark charts

As all results get charted, a 'fake' result gets spotted quickly and can be removed from the db by one of our result moderators.

But, I see 2 huge benefits these community based benchmarks will have that charts made for a review will never be able to offer:
- overclockability. If a reviewer gets his hands on a cpu/gpu and can overclock it to xxx mhz, it means very little. I can be cherry picked, or a bad sample, or... While overclockability charts based on hundreds of submissions give you a very clear insight on the overclockability of the hw piece.
- 'live' charts. As the charts aren't the result of a handmade excel/calc sheet, but based on live data in the database, the charts will always be up to date, whether you visit them today or within a year.

What's your opinion on this? Do you think community based benchmark charts have a future, or do you think they will suffer too much from vandalism (cfr. wikipedia) to be reliable?

Example 'live' benchmark chart, 3000 superpi benchmark results. lower = better.

Example 'live' overclockability chart. Each dot represent a succesfull benchmark run at x core speed and y memory speed.

Example videocard overclockability roundup chart.

Thanks for the updates, I was not completely happy with the first version when first posted, the major complaint was It did not allow me to do any editing to the team scores in the first post if needed...It looks like that is going to be fixed!

You did an great job with the last round of updates, I realy love being able to see world records broken down by single/dual video cards since 3DMARk does not make any distinction!!!!

If you have any need for a contact in regaurds to benchmarking threads in the future, drop me a line....

Nice to see some updates too, i really like the way things are going with the bot, I'm glad you finally setup the non 64 and 64 bit lists, so us without 64's arent being compared to them, but for a bit of info for all of those using a 64 bit CPU and there is a non 64 bit sister to the CPU add 64 to you CPU spec in the bots code, that way you see you result compared to CPU's you have and not vs the 32 bit sister CPU's

Thanks again for updating us, i cant wait for v2.0 and all the automation

I agree. I hate the fact that the ORB doesn't have SLI/Single card results. Those charts are good aswell!

I didnt know where to post this but can we get a CPU-Z hwbot thread in our forums, we have some master OC's here and our team has no one to show for it, with some of the mad OCs Cpt planet has alone (no offense to thers with WR's) we should get pretty high in the ranks,

also when you submit a result please update the ranking and verify it went through, as well as try out all the benchmarks, i know one being Pifast hardly anyone has tried, partly i think because of how stable your OC needs to be, but more reults can really help as a whole

Just my .02 worth

Yeah there are bots available for 3D06, they have been for 9 months now. I see Glitterkill is the team moderator, he can add bots.
