I increased my 3DMark scores by doing nothing!

Um, ok, so two days ago I installed 3DMark 2006 (along with some type of directx 9.0c update and openAL). Today was the first time I tried running the tests since (my computer is usually off over night, and it has been the past two nights). I started off with the 05 demo. The first thing I noticed was the horible looking loading screen. Everything seems to have low (and I mean low) detail and real blury textures. This also occurs in 3DMark06.

The one good thing to come from this though is increased scores. My 3DMark05 score rose from 4500 to 5002 and I gained 200 points in 3DMark 06!

I think this is a DirectX or driver problem, so I am going to remove them and reinstall them.

Notice the lack of bump mapping on the log and the absence of needles on the trees?

Yeah you got some major issues with image quality

Probably driver related as you mentioned, make sure you run Driver Cleaner after removing the old ones, Delete the NVIDIA folder, run disk clean up, and then reboot and install the new drivers.

And yes that would not surprise me if the DX-9 update helped other test scores as well, I'm sure they have added a few optimisations that will benefit across the board.

LOD - Level of Detail, did you change it? What video card are you using?

I am using an AGP 6800 nu. I did not change any image quality settings or resolution (i opened the program and pressed run).
Last night I removed all my 3dmark benchmarks, the dx SDK (and some other SDK update), the Dx runtime update that had been installed and my nvidia drivers. I got the newest directx, graphics drivers and chipset drivers. When I was all done and 3dMark 05 was installed again, my score was slightly high than the last time it worked properly
