I have recently been adding my benchmarks to HWBot. My score seems like it is much lower than it should be though, even compared to other people with similar systems. Can someone tell me what might be holding back my system?

CPU: Pentium Dual E2140 OC'ed to 3.1Ghz Stable (Stock 1.6Ghz)
RAM: G.Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800
MoBo: Asus P5N-E SLI
Vid: BFG 7950GT 256MB (I can't find anyone that carries the 256mb version anymore)
HD: Western Digital Cavalier (I bought this back in 2001)
Windows Vista Home Basic


The two things that I believe may be holding my scores back are my Hard drive or Windows Vista, but I am not entirely sure about that. I took some scores with the same setup (although nothing was OC'ed at the time) With Windows XP Home and then right after I installed Windows Vista, for comparison. Here they are:

They should fix HWBot so that people with Vista get scores that can be compared fairly to XP users, or people with Vista can choose to be compared to only other users with Vista.

People using Vista have been getting lower scores for a while.

These scores are a bit crazy. The only one should be higher in Vista is PCmark05 apparently (and it isn't). Your 3Dmark05 is weird in XP, did you put 4,411 by mistake? I'd still use XP for benching to be honest, as T2 said Vista is a resource hog. Have you benched at 3.1GHz in XP?

Sorry I can't be anymore specific. Your harddrive really isn't going to hurt your scores too much though.

PS it gets very annoying comparing your system to other similar ones, I wouldn't bother just do the best you can.
