Default 1971 Dodge Super Bee Mod

As previously stated this Mod is for my In Laws. Since CLOWNED is complete and a present for my mom, I thought my In laws should get a mod too, to replace their 500MHz Gateway. They or my wife have no knowledge of this project. Thus far I only have the following components:

(1) 80GB Seagate HD
(1) AMD Opteron 165 (1.8GHz) Dual Core
(1) Green Aspire X-Discovery Case

I will act as though the top of the case is the hood. Since I have limited ability in making a good looking scoop, I will be mounting an engine in the top of the case. The engine is the Dodge 426 Hemi. I want to tie in a 20mm fan that once cooled the Northbridge chipset to the crank. I'm hoping it will spin the engine fan without makiung it fall apart, but I won't know till I try.

Here's some concept pics of what I'm looking to do. I used Google Sketchup and then did a print screen to save them as .jpg's. The concept pics aren't final. I still need to add the stripes to the concept pics.

In the past I have not listened to what the modding community has asked that I do for a build, but this time will be different. I want your opinions and your combined experience. I won't always have the tools or money to make a certain cut or achieve a certain look, but I want to try.

And so it begins again. Join me on another adventure.

It has to be air cooled. My In Laws live 300 miles away and it would be difficult to travel back if they had a leak

i just feel that it would be a great idea to make this mod into something completly functional... perhaps you can rig up the engine to a dc source and turn it into an exhaust fan lol..well at any rate..regardless of it being aestetic or functional i still think itll look pretty sweet once your done with it..good luck

I'm thinking of using the DFI Lan Party UT (D or DR) board you have for this project. How has it been for you?

Here's pics of the components. I said earlier that I had a Seagate 80GB, but was mistaken; it's a Maxtor 80GB Diamondmax 16.

Here's the modem.

And the Opteron

Today I got the bee decal

And the SuperBee emblem

My board seems too good to be true. It runs with no problems whatsoever and I can surely say it's the best board I have ever owned. Definately a good choice for the Opteron.

I got the case in the mail and as you can see it's not nearly as bright of a green as the website showed. But that's great, because it's even closer to the color of the car!

Also, I tested the engine spinning idea with the use of an 80mm fan and it just doesn't have the torque to spin it. There's more ways ahead.

Any plans for the plexi swing out part on the front bezel? This might be a good place for an etch.

Actually I haven't thought of it. The 5.25 inch bay covers that aren't being used will be painted black. And the venting below will be black too. I don't know where an etch will really show up well.

I took the windowed panel off and disassembled the fan and grill. As you can see they added this nice little piece of mesh too. I won't be reusing the grill, but I do like the mesh.

Another nice feature is the removable mobo tray.

The right panel has an awfully convenient place for the "HEMI" window.

And as you can see I've already begun the painting.

Here's the paint I'm using. A nice flat black.

I also cut a small angle to show the bend of the stripe.

I can't stop modding....The stripe on the left is done.

And I sketched out where the HEMI window will go.

I've been meaning to mention for a long time how nice it is to have this mini spotlight.

I marked off the width for the right stripe. It has to be identical to the left.

Then I roughed up the paint....

...and slapped it on.

Looks good, again.

The motherboard I got is the DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D is mine. I still have to get the Video Card, Memory, Heatsink, DVD drive and the front panel LCD.

Here's the right side cut.

I got the logo. It's 6 inches in diameter, the case is 8 inches. The logo here is yellow, but it doesn't matter I just need the black parts. I'll cut away all the yellow and slap it on, then clear coat over it.

Just like the car.
