Hello fellow modders!
This will be my second ever case mod and the first full mod. My previous mod was a little dremel work on a side panel and a few lights.
I know that some might have an aversion to pink, but the color scheme is going to be pink and green...
(too bad!) I don't really love pink myself, but it goes well with the theme.
I only have some general plans for this mod so any ideas and input are more than welcome.
So lets get modding...

General Theme:
A japanese theme involving cherry blossoms and a butterfly or two. (Wow this sounds way more girly than it needs to be)

Case:
Lian Li v1000! I've always loved this case and bought it when it came out a while ago. I started a mod on this case last year but wasn't able to finish. So this summer I've got a new mod planned and I have about a month to finish it so there should be frequent updates (Going back to school aug. 19th)

The panels in these pictures look a little rough because I had prepped them for painting in the previous summer... I'm still going to paint it (of course).

Worklog:
Now for the good part! My first step was to cut a new window on top of the old design I was in the middle of cutting.

Now it was time to get rid of the old design... Bondo!

I got a little overzealous with the bondo and quickly regretted it since I was hand sanding
but thankfully after an hour or so I remembered we had a sander in the basement woo! (This is a picture of how far I got before I found the sander)

I was almost done sanding when some of the bondo fell off... I tried putting some more back on but I guess bondo doesn't work in those situations...

So I took the rest of the bondo off that area and hopefully I'll find another solution soon.


Then I cut a window on the top panel...

This isn't too bad with a dremel, but it still bothers me that the edges aren't completely straight. Any ideas?


Sooo anyone have any ideas for the name of this mod?

hmmm.. i like the overall theme. Pretty good cuts too. Just get some files to clean it up some and that'l probably help a little. I have a similar mod with a samurai theme if you ever care to look. Who knows maybe we can swap ideas. Well good luck with this mod. (subscribes to thread*)

I like window work so far.The top window looks a bit familar but nothing wrong with that.That is why we are here,Keep us updated...

It was rainy outside so I couldn't start painting yet, so i stayed in my basement and worked on my top panel some more.

First I drilled a hole into the top panel (1")


Then I test fitted it for the DD fillport

...seems to look fine

The window I cut out was made to complement a cherry blossom. I cut the design from some lexan (This is my first time ever cutting lexan or using a jigsaw.... a little scary but I think it turned out okay)


I decided to make the lexan flush with the fillport, it took some filing but it fits

The edges are really rough, but I was afraid of getting the jigsaw too close to the design, I couldn't seem to control it very well. I figured I would hand sand the rest of it.


The edges are still pretty rough, but I'm waiting for the rest of the acrylic to arrive before I go any further.

Also did some more filing on the side panel.... How's that look?

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I have been busy with my mod. I just tore apart my peripherals and just put them back together

Here is my monitor:
painted it black and gave it a glossy black finsh


it took forever to get that compound out of those holes

then I covered the monitor buttons in some chrome foil called Bare Metal Foil, its used by hobbyists and worked pretty well.
...its pretty shiny, these pictures don't quite give it justice but you can see the difference


The buttons on the left have already been done, I haven't put the foil on the buttons on the right two.

Here is the monitor almost done, I still haven't managed to get the compound out...



Then I got a shipment from Dragonmodz that made my day...


(I think I almost drowned in packing peanuts)

With the LEDs from the package I was able to replace my mouse LEDs with pink ones

Another shipment came with my pink mirrored acrylic and I cut it out into petals


After some major trimming the petals are pretty much done.
Here's a rough fit of how its going to look like


I took the protective covering off and then frosted the diamond shaped wedges in between the petals



Here is another shot, sorry about the blurriness but I wanted to show how it caught the light...

Oh my... the ' guts needed to "cut" a case as expensive as this....

I'm going to be taking a break from this mod to take care of a few personal matters and my college is also starting soon. I'm not going to give this mod though... I'll be back in a few months! Thanks for the support and comments
