| Apex Techie Lite | First off, lemme say that I have never had this much trouble building a computer. After the third attempt, I finally have a running machine, and a bigger dislike for this monstrously huge clear case In the end, I killed a hard drive, experienced motherboard problems, developed a strong hatred for acylic cases, and ended up using a motherboard that has none of the features I originally wanted. My third attempt was to be my final attempt, do or die. If I had any failures, the project was to be killed, and I wait until I get home before I try again. So far, so good. The machine is finished, for the time being anyways, until I get stateside and have a chance to do it right all the way through. I will warn those who are neat freaks: the inside of this machine is a train wreck of hoses and wires. I didn't organize it to the hilt when in two months I have to strip it down to nothing again and ship it home. This thing was built for power, strength, and the ultimate cool factor by having UV red sleeved wires and UV red PC ICE in clear tubing running all over the inside of the case. This machine was to be my "showcase" machine for when I get out of the military and attempt to start my own business. However, with the way things turned out, this ain't over yet. I will post pics as I edit them. ***edit: I guess I won't...I can't upload anything larger that 100KB Last edited by fairlane_68; 15-July-06 at 10:00 PM.. | |

| Apex Techie Lite | Next we have a picture of the case, a ClearPC Grande that I paid WAY too much for a coulpe of years ago. It's huge, and has a lot of room...until you fill it up. Next is the video card, a dusty but reliable BFG 7800 GT OC. It has blue lights on the fan. Next is the removal of the cpu cooler/waterblock. It's a Koolance 1/4" model, being replaced by it's 1/2" sized big brother. Koolance parts are made in Korea, so if anyone goes to Korea, remember that. Lastly in this installment, is what it looks like when the waterblock is removed using Arctic Silver thermal goop. Nice clean easy removal. Underneath is a 3.0 Ghz P4 Prescott, on an Asus P5GL-MX motherboard. That mobo was originally put in a shuttle case, which is where it is again. | |
