Default Project: Duke Nukem

That's right folks - I'm goin' Ol' Skewl. In honor of the computer game idol that raised me and taught me everything I know about aliens and women... Duke Nukem.

The soon to be purchased case shall be Lian Li's new PC-V300A mATX Cube.

"Say hello to my little friend..."

Photo stolen from BoxGods.com

Lian Li... your ass is grass, and I've got the weedwacker.

So what should I do? I don't know... but like it or not...this case is goin' down under my dremel!

Babes, bullets, bombs... damn I love this job!

Any thoughts on what art work I should use on this puppy? Speak now before it's time to ...

Ahh... that's what that list you sent me was all about

In 1997, the fastest consumer internet connection was a 33.6 kbps modem. On average, consumer internet connections are 300 times faster today.
When Duke Nukem Forever was announced, the fastest processor available to consumers was a 233Mhz Pentium. Since then the clock speed of consumer processors has increased over 16 times (32 times counting dual cores), and the fabrication process has decreased from 250nm to 65nm.
In October of 2001, Apple announced the iPod and Slashdot dismissed it as an immediate failure. Since then there have been 5 generations of iPods, as well as the iPod Mini, iPod Shuffle, and iPod Nano with 42 million iPods sold worldwide as of 1/06.
Steve Jobs was still running NeXT when Duke Nukem Forever was announced.
Every peer to peer file sharing program including Napster was developed.
In April of 1997, Google, eBay, and the term "weblog" didn't exist.
Linux gained at least 10 times the popularity it had while its kernel tripled in size.
Mac OS switched to UNIX and became the most highly regarded general purpose operating system on the market among the computing press.
Microsoft released 5 consumer-oriented versions of Windows and might release Vista before Duke Nukem Forever hits shelves.
Netscape Navigator 4 was released, Microsoft Internet Explorer destroyed it. Netscape 6 released on an entirely different rendering platform, Netscape dies, Mozilla foundation rises. Open-source Mozilla browsers become popular and force Microsoft to start working on new version of Internet Explorer.
Valve releases Steam and sets a new standard in digital software distribution

Unlike Duke Nukem Forever - no one better call this a case of Vapor(hard)ware

"When it's done." = 3D Realm's motto. They only told us they scrapped the other engine's over a year after they switched to something else. 3D Realms really does good on the no indication thing. Any word on the street = BS.

I'm liking the case choice already. I will have to give some thought to modifications.

I did my best to find a screenshot, but you clearly need to put some thought into having a power switch that's like the nuke button Duke presses at the end of each level.

You could make it out of some sort of push button, back light it, obvious it would need heavy customisation to be the same button.

I'll find the article, but apparently Take Two was shoving a whole lot of money at them to do so. However, 3DR is mostly self-funded so they're probably not feeling much pressure

But yeah, I kind of said word on the street because it's in no way official

Hmm - I was in the shed today and saw a bunch of old galvanized fittings from when I plumbed my parent's place. I'm thinking - pipe bomb case handle with red EL wire fuse!

How about mixing in one of those voice box things you get in kids teddy'. You could load it up with some Duke quotes that play randomly when you power up and / or open / close the dvd drive.

edit:

Ok just a thought. Dunno how useful it is but maybe this bad boy could feature (found him on a google trawl).

You know like that windowed case that has master chief inside looking all bad-ass (well kinda), forget who its by. Maybe something like that.

I dunno I'm running a bit dry for things that are very duke, short of that animatronic guy making you a duke head

Come to think of it.... I think "one of those 'bombs with a 'fuse & 'face on them"... needs to be a part of this 'project... I'm sorry I could not find a decent picture of 'em but I'm sure there will be some PC Apex

You need to include the girls that strip if you pay them money.. like in Duke Nukem 3D..

oh and maybe the pig cops.. lol those things were funny..

oh and while the computer is running you could change some of the system sounds to be the theme songs etc.. here is a duke nukem theme song

I always loved the fact that in duke nukem they had TONS of levels it was so much fun.. it toook so long to beat the game.. oh here is a funny foxtrot comic strip about duke nukem.

So those are a couple of ideas you could incorperate into the modd
