Default Old Compaq Mod

I got an old compaq for free and I decided to spice it up a bit. I have some pics sitting on the cam and I'll get them up soon. I already started working on it.

How do you remove the pins from a molex connector without a molex pin remover? I already checked out the other-modding section of the forums and I couldn't really find any info on that.

Pins look like

near their base.

If you use a pin or screwdriver to push the angley-bits in and get it like
| || |

you can pull it out; just restore the "spread" countours before reinserting so the pins will catch their sockets.

Here are some pics:

case stripped down

I'm changing the psu to an ultra x-connect(since I had it sitting around).

The main power cable just barely fit w/ the cd-rom drive in.

Since I'm gonna put UT on this rig I decided to do a little painting. Before everyone starts hating on my paint job let me just say that this is how I wanted it to turn out. It looks rough and abused(been through hell type of thing) and that's exactly how I wanted it. Yes, I even wanted the overspray.

I got through half the side cut and my only blade broke. I got some new ones today though so hopefully I'll have time to finish it on Wednesday. With the green glow from the psu, I'm hoping for an ooze effect(bio-rifle).

More updates to come.

Alright, this thing is almost done.

I wanted to get a shot in the dark w/ this thing on but my camera is too crappy. The green glow from the psu really does look good in the dark.

I still have some more work to do. There are gray pieces that go on the front. I'm going to vinyl dye those white so they will blend in to the rest of the case.

More updates to come.

DEFINITELY love the UT theme (my fav game). I'm DYING for 2k7 to come out! hopefully I'll have a better video card by the time it comes out. What's the specs on that system you have there?

600MHz celly
128mb pc100
integrated video
15gb hdd
Luckily this is not my main rig. UT2k7 looks to be an amazing game.

I already have the window all glued in so I won't be adding any molding. Besides I already spent like 20 bucks on this project which is more than I wanted to spend.
