| well i had a poll recently to see what you guys think ill Oc this sempron to with my WC setup with dual rads, well i started the mini loop up today and leakproofed it (its still running) and it looks great so onto the specs and where i'm at Well i bought a plexi res of Twizted, and a massive rad like 170mm and I traded a hydor pump 450GPH max, DD TDX block, and a black Ice single 120mm rad from atr3yu, and though for a second then decided, why don't i mix and match, and then max out my CPU, Now happens so my DFI lanparty had some defect in it and my friends from directron.com helped me out by giving every product except for some a limited lifetime warranty, (awesome deal i got for it anyhow) well i had to RMA it after about 3 months of use, and my cheapo ram also dies from whatever my gigabyte did too it, so thats out on RMA trips as well, but the specs (after they all return) DFI LanpartyUT NF3 250gb Sempron 3100+ @2.43 on air 1 GB Ultra Ram an old MSI agp 64mb card OCed at like 310/440 and for the WC 2 rad's one really big one with three (2x80mm, 1x92mm) fans, and a black ice with a 120mm fan, a hydor pump with a Qmax of 450GPH, a makeshift plexi res and 1/2 ID conversion setup the original pump and rads have 3/8 ID but i have short tubes running to a reducer and taking everything to 1/2 ID the whole WC setup will be in an external case that use to hold my comcrap 566Mhz P3 but i'm modding it to hold the 2 rads and pump and res, which only needs two more cuts, then its going to sit behind my pc nehind where i keep my printer, handy spot and perfect for keeping my pc tidy and the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ||

it wont be suicide i need this thing, but i have a peltier setup awaiting this ones success And to update i made my own non conductive fluid using dryer sheets after soaking distilled water in used dryer sheets for a number of days it turned non conductive its currently running in my loop with 12 oz of PC ice fro anti algea, and voyeurmods.com yellow uv dye the uv dye didnt work but there's nearly a half gallon or so in it so far and the second rad hasn't been added also does anyone have any odds and ends laying around of some clear 1/2 ID tubing, i need a few really short peices and all my leftover is too small, thanks a bunch if you do | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| RMA land is a strange and mystical place, I sent in my lanpartyUT NF3-250 board recently, and they had to send it back to DFI for the defect was beyond directron.coms replacement warranty Well after a few emails i was given a number for any more questions, well i called it once about 4 days agop and the guy said he was going to call DFI and get some updates for me and call me back within an our He never called back Wel today in the mail i get a motherboard from DFI, but its a NB72 RBV.B mPGA 478 board, not my Lanparty UT socket 754 board, well i called up directron and hes like whisper like ****** and terlls me that hes calling DFI right now and hell call me back within an hour and to call back if he doesnt Well he called back in about 5 minutes and says DFI has told him the RMA department went out to lunch and to call back in an hour, (i could have told him that) Now im waiting, I just find this funny any thoughts on what to do with the board if i get to keep it, i do have a celeron D sittinf around that i was tryin to sell as well as anyone delt with something like this before, im sure the wonderful RMA system has screwed with minds before Also i was leak proofing my res yesterday and relized something else, the pump has a crack in it and is leaking, can't wait to get delayed more!! | ||

| Well i didnt get to keep the Intel board (darn, ha) but ironically they sent me a replacement because of there shipping error well i still got my board back, so now i have 2 DFI lanparty UT NF3 250 boards as well as my old K8ns pro Gigabyte board all that are 754 so it looks like ill be running some 754 machine this year, so for a question what chips should i get. the Gigabyte needs a chip thats gonna not be OCed to any extreme (the board wont do it anyhow) and the other DFI i would like to know of the best 754 chip in OCing potential, for this board can do it? | ||

| If cost is no object, and you are willing to be very carefull, you can use a mobile chip... they are low voltage 1MB cache premium cores that OC like crazy!. AMD Mobile Athlon 64 4000+ (62W) Newark 800MHz HT Socket 754 Processor Model AMN4000BKX5BU - OEM 308$ 64 bit Support: Yes Hyper-Transport Support: Yes L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB L2 Cache: 1MB Multi-Core: Single-Core Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, 3DNOW! Professional Operating Frequency: 2.6GHz Process Type: 90 nm Series: Mobile Athlon 64 Voltage: 1.35V The "Turion" is something fairly new, I have not checked it out closely (Should work with a Bios update)because it's for a platform that is being phased out., but it could more potential than the above for less money. AMD Turion 64 Mobile MT40 Lancaster 800MHz HT Socket 754 Processor Model TMSMT40BQX5LD - OEM 265$ 64 bit Support: Yes Hyper-Transport Support: Yes L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB L2 Cache: 1MB Multi-Core: Single-Core Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, 3DNOW! Professional Operating Frequency: 2.2GHz Process Type: 90 nm Series: Turion 64 Mobile Voltage: 1.2V You could also go the safe route and get a 265$ 3700+ that has a heatspreader to protect the core. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103461 Then there are the cheaper 110~140$ 512k desktops chips (3400~3000+) they all seem to do well, around 2.4~2.6+GHZ. If you realy are on a budget, a 256K 3100+ "SempOrn" does a decent job of overclocking for 90$. When looking at these budget CPU's be careful not to get stung with the "Nueterd" versions with 128K cache, that is just not enough! (3300+, 3000+ and 2600+ are the ones to stay away from!) I can bench much higher (See Pi time at 2.5+GHZ) but I am currently using a quiet but small Zally 7000 at the moment so I am limted to around 1.5v for daily use, something more potent has gotten me above 2.5GHZ all day long. Depending on your budget and we can narrow it down a bit more, have a look at all of these and see what suits your needs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ubCategory=343 | ||

| Turion's are mint, I'd recommend one them. They seem to like running at quite higher FSB's in my experience. I have the 1.6GHz version and it'll do 2.5GHz on stock volts 24/7. These would make a nice cheaper choice. 1.8GHz 512KB L2, its $159... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103007 1.8GHz 1MB L2, its $183... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103006 Last edited by Zaltan; 06-June-06 at 06:32 AM.. | ||

| Idealy, I reccomend at least a 10X multiplier with any CPU for high end OC's, the 9X has shown to be a bit harder to get stable once past 2.7GHZ (9x300=2.7GHZ) without alot of fussing in the bios. Going with a 10x CPU, or even better 11x allows you to keep it in the optimal 250~300FSB and won't be as hard to set up...plus you will never have to wonder if you reached the CPU's limits, or just ran out of board! Thanks for the info Zaltan | ||
