| Well today is indeed a sad day for me I was looking for a new album from one of my favorite german bands, Guano Apes, and all I found was bad news. The band has split, on good terms of course, but since I am here in the states I had no idea from what I can tell this was a while ago. So what I am going to do is take this case and make a Memoral to one of the best german Rock bands that I know. The plan is simple black glossy paint all over on the "open side." I am going to put their "logo" on the side of the case, window it and red light the inside!... the top of the case will have the name of their fianl song on top "Break the Line!", Possible window or silver pain for this!... thinking on that!!! The front will have 120mm high flow fan for intake behing a modders mesh and lighting scheme in the front... on the back panel I think i am going to do mural of the band and seal it under a glossy top coat!... any ideas or sugguestions would be welcome!! | ||

That's a cool name for a band - must give 'em a listen ![]() The concept sounds good - why not go for a slightly larger fan on the intake - 140mm just to be a little different - aerocool do those turbine ones which look nice ![]() Any ideas on the case you'll be using (we'd love to see some pics dude!)

Hmm, I couldn't resist! From www.dictionary.com: guano: A substance composed chiefly of the dung of sea birds or bats, accumulated along certain coastal areas or in caves and used as fertilizer. So, the band name's literal latin translation is "Apesh!t"? Hahaha! Seriously though, sorry to hear about your band break-up; it sucks when a loved band breaks up... EDIT: Oh, by the way (and to keep the thread on-topic), I like the lines of the case you're modding. It has some potential, I like the lower part of the bezel best.

| So with the hot water heater fiasco, and the honey-do list, things have been a bit crazy. I was going to get down to work and sand the ever living crap of the that beige. Sadly, it has done nothing but rain since i got off of watch last night so... I tore the case apart to see what I have. Found that the frame does not tie together at the top... still trying to figure weither thats a good thing or not. My boy in supply actully hooked me up with some left over clear plexi so I won't have to buy a window kit. I however have no idea what the best way to cut it is. Also happy to find all the "parts in the case will be usefull later....... Picts!!! | ||

You know it Sparky, thats the best thing ever and he came thru in spades today... FILES! I havent made any cuts yet cause i was trying to get everything i needed for the "clean up" and there they are i know that they are for finnishing but i mean isnt that what we need them for... great for small spaves and intricare design... Can't thank him enough! Cuts and Sanding to happen when the weather clears up... 88 said i cant work in the house any more!!! Such is life!

| Odd..... never seen a tower case with a "non supported" top part like yours before.... means that there is much more strain on the "top cover" than usual... since it is not only a "cover" but a "structural part"... Should not really be a problem.... just don't drop this case... ![]() Anyway... I like what you plan to do and I really love those files.... nothing like a good set of files for the finishing 'touch!!! TDR | ||

| So I gave something a shot i was looking at some Red Rivets on Lokie's Website you guys know DragonModz and realized that if the rivits are 1/8" then all i needed was a 1/8" bit and i could chew thru them and break down the case even more since i am going to use all red inside the case and black on the out with some Reflective White Trim! So i tried it out..... AND BANG!!! I have a question actually two, whats the best way to cut plexi? and should i cut my side panel 's first and then pain them or do it the other way around! | ||

Best way to cut plexi... SLOWLY ![]() It depends on what you have tool-wise: A jigsaw will do the trick and is useful on the bigger pieces (as it's fast and reasonably accurate) just be sure to get a blade that has lots of fine teeth (as it will lessen the chipping that happens) Personally, since I don't have a jigsaw, I just use a regular cutoff wheel on my dremel (set at 2 or 3 on the speed selection) It's a slow, painstaking process on the large pieces, but it does the job fine for me ![]() As far as the side panels go, cut them first - you'll lessen the chance of scratching that paintjob which you've worked hard to get nice. Just be careful when you do cut the panels (I'm guessing you'll be using a dremel) too much heat can warp the metal and make it harder to sand flat - take it slowly Good luck - can't wait to see some more pics

| Agree with everything MasterP says... another tip with plexi would be to make sure you tape up both sides with nice thick masking tape. Not only for marking up your cuts but also helps protect the surface from scratches or an over excited jigsaw. I ruined my first plexi cutout on Project Offspring by the foot of my jigsaw making a nice big scratch / trench in the plexi! DOH! Mark | ||

| I go with MasterP & Mark, as far as the advice goes.... I usually use a jigsaw with a special "plexi blade" plus I drill holes at "key points" to make the cutting process easier... and remember... you can always use your "file set" to set things straight... don't cut it too close! (literally..lol...)... TDR | ||

| I know, I know, you guys are hoping for picts, but I have been totaly under the weather the past few days and with my Squadron coming back from deployment and everything else, like the lack of carpet in the middle of my house I just havent had the time to do anything... I have to appoligise to you guys. I hate to wait on work that can be done now... updates when things slow down. | ||
