ive been a member a while and this is my first case mod im tryin ....
did a abstract window job on my last case ....but want to a do a whole case theme this time

so here we go ...i plan to build a boondock saints themed case ....
trying to keep it relatively simple as this im my first whole case mod ....
i have coolermaster centurion 5 which was a present ...
which i plan to use ..it has a premodded window ....

i plan to put a uv acrylic green cross on the window ....based on the rosaries in the movie....
and to have the words "aequitas" and "veritas" vertically on either side of the window
one more cross on the front panel ...mayb hook it up to the hdd leds so that its flashes with actvity ...

havent really decided for the other side panel ....
i want to incorporate the prayer from the movie somewhere ....but not sure how to do it ...
i was thinking mayb to have it as a border going along the edges of the panel ... or having it painted in the centre ...

anyone hav ideas for the top pannel ? ..
i was thinkin of incorporating an irish flag or erin go bragh flag ...

i got the basic layout planned for the windowed side panel ....

want to use uv reactive green acrlic for the cross ..give it a bit more kick

here my idea for the front panel ...

not certain where to put the cross ....so i showed to possibilities ...

also want to put boondock saints somewhere on the case ....any ideas ?

i had the idea to have " The Saints" on the other siden panel ....the t being the cross again ....

yeah if u have noticed i have an obsession with the cross ..think it was such an outstanding image in the movie ...the rosaries the brothers wear....

thinking of gettin a custom fan grill of it done for the top panel if i decide on adding a fan there ..
or on the bottom corner of the window ....help cool my sli cards.....would this juz look too crowded ??

any opinions are welcome

take the quote, print it out in italics and trace it onto the acrylic. hell, use the two shades you want to use, (clear and green on the cross) and etch it onto the cross/acrylic... it'd look great.

There are different versions of the prayer too. It's your preference which one you personally think sounds/looks better

Nice project!

Since this is your first mod, maybe avoiding painting the text on it might be an idea.

I'd suggest using vinyl-cut lettering and designs to apply to the panels - you could use the UV green or go with something like black lettering on the black panel (that way you won't see it unless you hit it on the right angle) - there are a ton of other colours that you can use too

Most signwriting companies can design and cut it all out for you - if you are any good with vector based image progras like drawplus (freeware) or freehand, you can design it all yourself.

The best part is that if you feel like doing something else with the case, you can just remove the lettering with a razor blade (carefully) and be left with what you started with

just an idea though...

been modeller for years now (games workshop products) so painting is one of the few things that
dont worry me ....its the cutting ....and wiring .....and well all the other stuff any advice ...
might use the vinyl cut letters for the prayer .....as that would just take way too long to paint ....

Might want to swap around Veritas<---->Aequitas as it's normally delivered Truth then Justice, but that's a small detail and not worth worrying about to much.

The Boondock Saints shop <-- might have something you can use such as their decals.

I think if you etched the cross/rosary design into the window then wrote the prayer behind it it'd make for an interesting look too and then use LEDs to backlight it.

My ability to distort layers in photoshop not withstanding... I hope you get the basic idea from my picture.

Like Iateronmly was saying... I'd frost the text and rosary. The pic gives you the gist of it. You might even be able to compose the rosary entirely of the prayer... which would be amazing if done correctly.
Around 7 minutes of trying to get it to work. It doesn't have to be perfect, just get it looking good and where you like it. Although... you may not want this at all. Personaly... mine sucks, lol.

If you remember at the end of the movie, they were sitting in a hotel room with blue lights flashing through the window.


BTW: I've been keeping up with these forums for well over a year. I've finally caught a project that peaks my interest as I really like the movie.

There is an interesting detail to consider when working on this mod. The movie was blacklisted from movie theaters for "Trench Coat" violence immediately after the Columbine incident. I don't know what you can do with this bit of info, but I think it would be really cool to include a small homage that sends chills down your spine. You could even put the rating symbol somewhere on the case (Not so spine-tingling).


I do know that if I was doing it... I'd find a good pick of Dafoe in the drag outfit and do a frost silhouette of him.

This looks like it is going to be a pretty sweet project. I wanted to do a Boondock Saints themed case for a while, but haven't had the time or money to do so.

One thing that would be interesting to have on the case is something pertaining to Rocco or Il Duce, even though they were less significant characters. Is it dead? If you know the movie, you know where that comes from.

A sweet window etch would be of the brothers and Il Duce right before they execute Yakavetta in the court room. Not to ruin it for those who haven't seen it, but Yakavetta is on the floor of the court room on his knees, one brother to his left and right, and Il Duce behind him. They say the prayer, and kill him.

firstly ..the frontx panel ...has bugged me ..
1. for being not that useful ...apart from the diagnostic leds (i love lights )
2. it juz sits there...all plain and dull and not that ....

so i thought ..well i need to put " the saints" somewhere on the case...

If you check out my Project Offspring (in Sig) then i re wired an LED array for HDD activity. If you wanna check that out that may help.

The basics is you will need an optoisolator to trigger a higher current source than the mobo header can handle. Bit like a switch / relay. If your interested than let me know and i can wack up a circuit diagram

Out of curiosity, all the DVD's of the Boondock saints that I've seen are rated R...

Moogler, If you want to make the cross on the cd drives...how many drives do you have? You can always cut out part of the cross where the tray comes out and glue it on. So if you have two drives, you'll have two cut out sections. Etc.

lol, hells yeah. This is one of my all time favorite movies, this case by definition will be sweet.
