I'd like to take this opportunity to announce a special new award badge for PCApex members. The badge is called the Special Projects Modding badge. It has been designed to recogonize those special PCApex members who have contributed to a PCApex approved special project.

Now, before I start handing out this award, I'd like to discuss what I mean by "contribute". Certainly, this would lead anyone to believe that they can earn the award by simply giving a few dollars to help out one of our special projects that we have from time to time. If that were to be the case, then this is simply an award that can be purchased by a monetary donation which, in my opinion, devalues the special meaning intended for this award.

Instead, this award will be given to those special members who have actually poured their blood, sweat, and tears into a project. For example, the latest completed special project members in this forum undertook was the "Case of Hope", a specially modded computer built by hand and auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to a breast cancer research organization. People on the project, like Foe, actually built the computer herself, which is going to earn her the award. I myself donated a Sunbeam 20-In-1 panel; however, I won't be getting the award.

I'd like this award to hold special meaning for those that work on these projects. It is meant to have these members stand out from the crowd and be recognized for their efforts. They ask for nothing in return for their hard work. This special icon is to be considered only a small portion of what we owe these people for.

So, that being said, let's pick up our dremels for a higher cause. If you know of someone who should have this award, be sure to post their name here, the work they contributed, and a link to the project thread.

It's 95F here on Long Island in August with a relative humidity of 120% (or so it feels) and sweat is pouring off of me even in the air conditioned home office. I decide that I want to support a "Special Project" so I grab my checkbook to write out a check. In the process I get a paper cut that stings like a sumabeyoth from the salty sweat that gets in it. I shake my hand sending droplets of blood and sweat all over the check as my eyes tear up from the stining pain. As I squeeze my eyes shut and try to regain control of my pain wracked body a tear drops onto the check, smudging my signature. I send the check in, blood, sweat, and tears included.

Lokie is definately deserving of this award as well (if you haven't already given it to him). He spearheaded a project that had the very best of intentions, only to get burned (along with several other members) by the shady individual that was the recipient. Plus I velieve he is helping on the latest project as well.

I agree - mnpctech_guy, red02 & wordbiker have put in a heap of work on the PR tribute case (they are the main ones holding this together) and should get one
