| Apex Techie Wannabe | Well, this is not my first case mod, though I am only doing things a little at a time. I have had this system for a little over a month now and here is what I have done so far. Started with this: ![]() ![]() ![]() Then added a little lighting and some other hardware: ![]() ![]() Painted the inside(paint is metal flake ocean blue): ![]() Side of case with switch for CCFL's modded into it(didn't like the switch in the back): ![]() Got bored today so I painted a few exterior parts: ![]() ![]() Pic showing the lighting a little better: ![]() I am going to finish painting the rest of the silver parts in the near future as well as change up the lighting a bit, maybe go UV or something. Need to do a little bit of work with the wiring though just about everything not being used is hidden. Everything else I sleeved and whatnot. Tell me what you guys think and throw any ideas my way. ![]() If you don't already know about this little thing called Folding@Home here is some info about it. OUR GOAL Understanding how proteins self-assemble ("protein folding") is a holy grail of modern molecular biophysics. What makes it such a great challenge is its complexity, which renders simulations of folding extremely computationally demanding, and difficult to understand. The Stanford group has developed a new way to simulate protein folding. However, this method is extremely computationally demanding and they need our help. For more info about it stop by F@H's home page here. With that in mind you should read up on our team Team PCApex linkage. It is a great way to help humanity and PCApec alike. If you are the competitive type you might want to join up in one of PCApex's sub teams for more info on them check these links. Team Ups Team Ator T2's Folding Army | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Nice work dude! There's something about the Ammo cases that really appeals to me ![]() Oh - one other thing, would you mind attaching the images to your first post? (hit the edit button and use "manage attachments") It'll mean that it makes it easier for people to see them and the page will load faster too ![]() Keep up the good work! | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | One other minor mod I have done was add another fan. For those of you that have seen the AMMO case, there is venting on the top of the case where the handle is. I went ahead and drilled four holes and installed a 120mm fan there as another exhaust fan. ![]() | |

| Apex Techie Wannabe | The base of the handle on each side is reinforced. You can pick it up with all hardware installed and there is little to no flex on the top of the case. Honestly there are no worries about using the handle. I have a few other ideas I will be working on hopefully in the next couple of weeks, so there is definitely more to come. | |

| first of all, the case looks awesome! second, I've been thinking about this case for a project of my own.. I really like the built in handle, and from what I've read int his thread the handle fixture is strong. i'm just curious about the durability of the rest of the case.. I don't really care about weight, since I need to work out anyway (derringers x.x) but I do want a sturdy case.. i've narrowed it down to the AMMO or the Gigabyte GZ-XA1CA-STB either way I plan to have a handle or handles on the top of the case, and I've already got big speaker cab handles ready for the Gigabyte sorry to distract from the thread!
