Just don't forget to wipe it with denaturized alcohol...a.k.a. rubbing alcohol before you apply
the thermal grease....there might still be some "brasso residue" left on the 'sink... even a small
film of that could deteriorate performance...

Hoffman - If you look closely on the bottle, you'll see that it cleans more than just brass.

Dragon Reborn - Already done. I thought of that as well.

Default Memory Galore!

W00t! Finally got an update. Though it is only hardware related. I ordered some Extreme G.Skill 2GB Dual Channel DDR500 memory to finally get rid of my memory problem. It had be progressively worsening over the last few weeks (random reboots/lock ups) so when I got my tax returns, I decided to go ahead and splurg. Here you go guys. I should have some better pictures when it arrives here later this week.

Well guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while I've been VERY busy as well as low on funds. As I promised here are some pictures of the memory and its working great. In the mean time I've been working on fixing my laptop. Somehow through unknown events it received a nasty blow to the corner and cracked it. I decided after discovering this that it was a good time as any to paint the top like I had been wanting to. So I dismantled the monitor casing, superglued the crack and gave it a good run through. Sanded the top down, gave it some primer, two coats of paint, and a crapload of clear coat. Hopefully I should have more updates down the road when I have more money, haha. Piece by piece...

Sweeeeet! I love laptop mods! As far as I'm concerned that's the next frontier. It's a whole other ballgame when you work with a machine that tightly packed together, not to mention uniquely organized. I've thought about modding mine, but haven't gotten up the nerve yet. I just got it and it's the only one I have. All the more reason to mod it, I know, but its not like I can just replace it if I frack something up. So did you just tape off your lcd in order to protect it or did you actually dismantle it and only paint the casing?

I actually dismantled the entire LCD structure. Yes, it can be a pain but it gets the best desired effect in the end. You can actually see how I taped off some of the parts on the very top casing after removing it, before painting. A lot of it was to repair the crack to my laptop, due to the fact that I did not have damage insurance on it and I figured what the hell. Secondly, I had just been wanting to paint it for a while but like you was afraid of voiding the warranty. The best thing I can tell you is, use your best judgment. If it is out of warranty then there are no worries. Next I'm hoping to paint the body around the keyboard to match. We shall see.

Hi first post here!

I have the silver Tsunami and have posted in a few forums to see what ideas people come up with for modding my case. I want to change the front panel audio into a fan too, but am having trouble working out how to do this as this will be my first ever mod. I also found this very nice looking mod that i wanted to do. It hides the wires at the bottom of the case and looks stunning. You could try doing it if you'd like. (pic at bottom)

I havent started doing any mods yet though and am looking forward to seeing what you do.

Cheers!

I'll tell you what guys.. I've had the worst luck when it comes to computers recently. Right as I was bout' to order some mod supplies, my HDD finally crapped out on me. (It was an 6 year old IDE 80GB Seagate, so I can't complain) I ordered a SATA II 250Gb Western Cavier SE, and as soon as it arrived, what happens? Through much trial and test I discover that my motherboard's SATA plugs are screwed as well. Also discovered that my motherboard didn't come with RAID/SATA drivers on a floppy... So long story short, I sent it back, and Murphy's Law strikes again! It had gone past the return date, so all they could was exchange it. So I was pretty much stuck with a motherboard I couldn't use. (Its much more complicated that I'm making it sound.) So in summation, I've been using my craptop.. erm I mean laptop for the last few months. But good news is afoot! I ordered a new better motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127207), and it should be arriving tomorrow! I should be able to post some pictures after I return from class (woohoo.. summer school.. financial accounting -.- ). But for now, here's some pictures of my poor dismantled PC. Sorry for the horrendously long period of no updates.

P.S. - I still have a brand new, unopened Gigabyte K8N-SLI Motherboard. If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me on my AIM.

Graw! -.- My computer hates me. I got my new motherboard today and got a Zalman heatsink. Everything booted up fine.. partition went fine.. then it went to copy the windows files after the partition and bam... missing SIF file.. must reboot. Now it only gives me the notorious NTLDR IS CORRUPT OR MISSING. And I can't get it to work. Anyways, here's some pictures of the build. I'll give you some updates on the problems as I can.

Yup, I know. Its just frustrating. This will be the 3rd time with this machine I have had to send something back recently. And as many of you know Newegg doesn't pay for RMA shipping (at least not back to them). So I got screwed in shipping costs. HOPEFULLY, these parts that I'm getting back should work.. If not, I may just loose all my sanity. Anyways, thanks for the positive replies guys I'll get back to you as soon as the stuff comes in.. which may not be for another 2 weeks.
