From what I hear itÂ’s an fsb limitation and a VRM (Voltage Regulator) issue....Some industry insiders are saying that the chipset itself isn't flawed but the Main boards themselves are....

So look for ver 2.0 on many 975X boards when the Conroe launches in Q2....

I am hoping the 8 phase power regulation on my gigabyte will just need a bios update...but I am dreaming I am sure....

If it requires a new board I'll be selling this one off to get the newer version...LOL

Another note...If the chipset is going to stay as is...There still will not be dual 16x support for Conroe boards either I guess.....So I may stand corrected on my previous statement...

The only ones that really know where this is going are the "INSIDERS" I keep referring too...

Hope that helps some...
Digi

Could you elaborate on the "VRM issue"? I have a mobile processor in my laptop that runs with 1.356volts at 2.0 Ghz. The P5WD2-E Premium's Vcore settings goes as low as 1.3volts. I have a hard time believeing that the Conroe would use less voltage than a mobile processor so what could the problem be with the VRM?

29C is still freakin sweet for those kind of speeds. The heat that thing must be making is crazy.

Well here are a few more pics of the water setup....

The kit is a Swiftech Apex Ultra Plus I opted to not use the Northy block and went with two MCW60 blocks for the GPU's Instead....

Its a very very very good performing kit and I am pretty partial to the design over the previous water kit I had installed...

Here are some pics to show ya some of the install....
More to come later

Nice...

I love my swiftech kit although my temps are around 35 idle but that not bad for a 1ghz overclock

What kinda nimbers you getting from the system, 3dmark wise.

EDIT

nm forgot that you posted them.

And I see that you changed her to blue.

I think hanging out with Digi has caused him to get a touch of the $SOLID$ Overclocking madness...

He has been up there almost every night pushing his rig, benching it, and then pushing it a bit more

Almost have him talked into a 180$ 6300 Conroe, even though he realy wants to save up for a a 6600...Ikeep telling him to off some old unused hardware and just do it, he can then use the 6300 in a second PC for the kids later when he can afford the 6600

*considers the swiftech kit*

I'm running 4.3 on my 930 and idle temps are hitting 52C, load is around 58-60
Mind you - I'm using 3/8" and 2 Black ice GT stealth 120's (and only 58cfm fans) with a MCP-350 pump, Northbridge block and a DD NV78 block on a single 7800GT

Me needs faster fans i think....

So... you hit 5GHz yet?

*cough cough* EDIT - just realized that my "idle" temps included an instance of F@H running

You should,

I am using 3 37CFM fans on a eXtreme 3 and they keep my temps nice a cool.

Edit: will all the swiftech stuff

HEY! I have never experimented with water cooling and the thing that gets me is seriously how does it work? Like how does water cooling cool your computer?
