or any power hungry intel for that matter....
even though the presler's are on 65nm.... when overclocked they will bring pretty much most of the multi rail psu's on the market to their knees.... plus youre running crossfire... i hope that ocz modstream can handle the overclocking....

i woulda gone w/ a high amperage, single rail sparkle, or a zippy server psu er sumthing along those lines....
ive had great success w/ my enermax eg651

btw what is amperage on the +12v rail for the ocz 520watt?

The PSU rates 33A on the 12V rail - I have the 520W OCZ one on a 955x chipset, (single GPU though) with my presler running stable at 3.82GHz (should have no trouble with breaking 4GHz either now that I've removed my faulty RAM)
Those OCZ ones are made by Tagan - owned by some of the best PSU engineers in the game. I think you'll be sweet with it digi

Digi, you'll have to let me know how that PSU handles the Crossfire setup. In that Stacker case with all the bells and whistles installed, I got an intermittent boot with an OCZ 520W and only one 1900 installed. I went to the 600W Ultra and it stabilized. I'm getting ready to add a Crossfire card to the mix on an ECS board and Jon at Ultra thinks it should be OK since both PCI-E are on 12V2. It may be OK on an open bench but I doubt it will be in the Stacker. However, Jon hinted at a couple new models coming out soon that have some... umm, optimizations... designed assist with this and next generation of high powered vid cards.

BA.....Well.....as was mentioned the modstream has a 33A single 12V rail....and she’s doing pretty good as far as keeping up....

Everything is bolted in the Lian-Li V1000....(PICS COMING SOON)...However...I don't have any extra lighting installed yet...and I cut down to three Hard Drives from four.... I took out the three Sata 120's and put them back in the 478 rig....I am only running the Raptor now and two Samsung 250gb Sata 2's...trying the 3gbs drives to see if they live up to the hype...

So that leaves me with...
3 Hard drives....just over a half a terabyte of storage...
1 Light Scribe DVD Burner....and the mobo and video cards...
Not sure how it’s going to hold up to everything installed....i.e...Extra lighting and such....if at all...
Right now she’s stable and benchable over 3.7 GHz on stock cooling.....
Scores coming this weekend...
I would love to hear about your experience with the ULTRA PSU's.....
As it stands the PCP&C ones are dropping like flies too....and the only two I know are actually working on Crossfire so far are this modstream and the 560 watt seasonic one...

I believe it has to be over 500 watts...and single rail at that....
ATI claims the 1900's need 30A to run two cards...
With the modstream you have to turn the juice up a little bit using the on board pots to get her stable.
It's very close....
Please feel free to share via pm or email what you know about any upcoming PSU from ultra...
I have the 600 watt in my 478...and it’s never done me wrong...

I can't say what caused your issues with the 520 your using...However, maybe you could try turning up the voltage...I crank them up till they are orange...and back them down till it turns green again...
DO NOT RUN IN THE ORANGE...it will actually slow down your system and make your oc's less stable.
Try turning them up and let me know how that works...Send me some screenies of your voltage rails positive and negative in speed fan using charts....
And make sure your on a good grounded outlet. belive it or not...BIG DIFF...

I Would also be curious to see how the HIPER ones are handling the Crossfire ...Since they did get recently certified.....See what you might be able to dig up over there....

Funny how the PSU market failed this round....

Digi...

I have finals this coming week but I will get the pics and more details up this weekend....
I can't wait for you all to see the case...I am very pumped at the work done on that so far....

personally i think the hiper is just glamour... you pay an arm and a leg for what you get.... ya they look pimp, but ive heard theyre not the best for power hungry oc'd intels... and they fluctuate when intels are oc'd.
i had an ocz modstream 520 powering my 3.0e pressy w/ 4 deskstar sata-II drives in raid0, 2 lite-on lightscribe dvdrw's, oc'd pc4200 patriot ram.... and it fluctuated, like a biotch, when oc'ing to a certain point, the psu couldnt hang... so i dumped it, and picked up the enermax i have now... no probs at all, but i think ima be volt modding my p4p800se soon.

it teh modstream doesnt cut it... have u thought about dually psu's? lotta ppl @eocf running intel rigs w/ dually psu's with great results

Well after solving some power issues....I finally got the case at least together...with the wiring done....
Still have the water cooling to go...to make this project complete...But I thought while it was together and running in the case...I should share some pics with you...

It is lit up with 4 red ccfl tubes....and a few fans...etc....

You can get the idea I had with the mesh screen on the CNC cutting now....

And I hope you can appreciate the time I spent on the wiring. It was not at all easy to get BOTH sides of this case clean and manageable...

Anyway more to come soon...here are some pics for you...As I think they speak much louder then words...

ENJOY...Digi

Hey how did my Lian-Li case with its Crossfire setup endup is DigitalWorld's room? I want it back plz.

Damn.... that thing is on fire. That case can light up a dungeon. I don't know but I kind of don't like those blue LEDs on the mobo. Just looks out of place IMO. The wiring looks good, not bad at all.Oh and BTW I can see your TT Armor in the background, which is a case I like alot.

Now go ahead and overclock.

Still learning tweaks for this setup so the OC's aren't up there very high yet...
But just to let you guys see how shes doing in respect to where shes at...

PC MARK 05 6198

She also ran a 31 sec PI....Pretty good for a DUAL CORE Intel....Single Core CPU's score faster PI.....screenie on that one as soon as I can duplicate the test again.

will run some others tommorow..

Honestly bro, I would talk to Dex or someone like that to get your hands on a Noctua. You know water can't get below ambient, and ambient is about the best we can shoot for. The Noctua easily takes it down to ambient and then laughs at you and eats your summer sausage you have been saving for lunch then takes your woman and treats her dirty and unfortunately she likes it.

Yeah, it's that good.

Yeah, it's that good.

Yeah that was a thought I had....
I was considering making the front round cut there that was set for the water cooling res...and just slapping a FAN in that hole since its a 120....

Which Noctua you think? the 120 or the smaller one?
