I'm lovin' the Pimp Caddy idea, just not the pink... The Crown Royal Purple, though, maybe in a candied glaze finish? Just seems to fit a little better, IMO... After all, the Pimp smilies are both wearing purple, not pink...

Bill: Perhaps you and Lin could be the final stop on the PimpRig Tribute Rig tour, so's he could add one of his fan-freakin'-tastic airbrush finishes to the project... After the box gets that "one-of-a-kind" paintjobs that you guys charge the REALLY big bucks for... If it started out painted and ended up getting trashed in the shipping to and from one of the modders, that could make for some really difficult times...

Other issues with some of the ideas

No offense to anyone, folks, but the hydraulics (if any are actually used in the project) need to be slow and smooth, like how my Corvosier goes down after a long work day... Not necessarily harsh and fast like a pimp slap...

Lining the insides with crushed velvet would tend to send temps up... Perhaps that idea can be kept on the back burner, as a "last resort" sort of thing...

Extreme cooling should probably be one of the last things to be installed/incorporated. No, I've never gone past water cooling, but I can only imagine that a VapoChill would NOT be the world's lightest component, much less so after the rest of the machine is loaded up and installed. While the "extreme" ideas thing is fitting, IMO, we may have gone a little "extreme" on the ideas ourselves... A shot of reality every now and then does a body good...

Edit: Oh, sensibly put GPN - I'm for the purple paintjoob too - as for the airbrushing, It's a service that costs a fair whack (out of bill and lin's own pockets) to do.
It'd be awesome to have, but I reckon it'd still be slick without it too

good outlook, the velvet interier wouldnt up temps too much, it would be like puting in sound dampening material...just everywhere..LOL

i was thinking more along the lines of this material, it would add alot of texture to the inside and would be PIMP.

If your worried about the material causing highter temps... I think it will act as an insulator and help keep internal temps down. The drawback is if the case is air cooled the fabric will become a dust magnet.
Now there is the option of lining the case in the fabric THEN putting clear plexi over it. (like a picture frame)
as far as cooling goes If my chiller system works as expected I would gladly donate it to the cause.
The biggest drawback is the weight will be around 50 pounds when done.


Just a thought.. Since it's a tribute theme how about the customary window mod have an etching on all the different PR logo's from over the years with the official "PcApex" centered and the other logo's surrounding it? To kind of signify the differerent evolutions PR has gone through to get to the point where it's VERY name that gave it life and helped this site grow needs to change in order to let it continue to grow.


My personal feelings: I totaly understand the need for the name change, but it is very sad that the world has come to such a point that "a name" can hold back such a popular site.

i know this will sound besar but you know those things you use to hold up your boot in a car you know like in bulldogs
if you got 2 of thoses and used them on the side of the chasis with a lock/release latch on the inside of the case
then you would have a hydrolic action door
i was thinking of doing this in my next mod (after the current)

you know what i mean you sorta push in the side of the case and it "automaticaly rises open"

BTW I have some fans that I can donate to the project (80mm and 92mm).

I see that the caddy theme seems to have a certain allure, But I still like the
