Default Project: K E I S A R I, 13 May 06

Ohoi!

Time for a small update yet again.

I sleeved the pump.

Because I'm using Tygon R3603 as tubing in the system I need to drill out all my fittings to 11mm to accomodtate this thicker type of tube. I bought a huge drillbit which I ended up not using because it trashed the fitting.

Instead I found this strange bit and it turned out to work like a dream

After drilling the fittings I started mounting the pump and tubing.

I may have run into a bit of a problem because I don't know if my VFD will fit in the planned slot in front of the res because of the tubing that I didn't really take into account when planning this thing, but I guess we'll see about that

And from the rear (not sure if the tubing should run like this though)

That's it for now but hopefully I can get some more work done soon.
Thx for reading

Finally it's update time

First of all I want to say that I'm sorry for not updating in a while. The reason is that me and my fiancé are moving to Los Angeles (I'm going to work and look for a Computer Science related internship in the area while my fiancé is studying at Whittier College). So that's what I've been doing for the last couple of months and that's why I haven't been updating. I've also realised that I haven't taken photos of a lot of the progress, oops. Anyways, enough babbling!

Let the modding commence :dremel:

First of all and completely irrelevant i had an old broken Maxtor drive lying around so I figured I'd drill a hole into is to see what it looked like.

Ok, enough of the boring stuff.

I decided to polish the HDD blocks since they where outrageously scratched and not very nice at all
So I sanded them down with a few different types of sandpaper (from 240 up til 600) then applied some polishing goo

and polished them with my trusty Dremel

applying some creamy thermal compound to the HDD's

attaching blocks to HDD's

another angle

another

my sweet dual 160GB maxtors. I know people complain a lot about maxtor drives but I've never had a problem with one. Maxtor Fanboy in da house

I decided that just because it was on the back of the case it shouldn't go unnoticed. So I thought I might as well spiffy the backside up as well.
Regular 120mm cover plate

Cover plate covered in carbon vinyl on both sides with a 120mm fan silencer on the mounting side (the airbubbles you can see need to go).

finished cover plate mounted

PSU silicone silencer mounted (shhhh!)

ok! on with it

Removing old silencing foam from case side

New Noise Blocker silencing foam mounted

Holes for Innovatek Konvekt-O-Matic radiator drilled

Tubing and radiator mounted

the other side

I drilled the mounting holes on the radiator out to accommodate my nice hex screws instead.

the other side

so I can remove the side of the case whenever I have too I've mounted quick release couplings to the side.

fans mounted with silencing silicone

finished the status LED's

testmounting the front facias

detail shot. I would've mounted the VFD higher but the reservoir is so close to the front edge so it's simply not possible.

more testing

even more testing

OOHHH NOOOOOO!! the facia I've made for my start button and status LED's doesn't fit. AAAArrggghhh!!!

more to come in 2 sec

gotta fix that facia!

Cutting it to fit with my lean mean Dremling machine

Now it should fit

I haven't taken any pictures of it but I've decided to mount the facia with carbon vinyl as well.

Mounting the manifold into the case

The side mounted and connected to the reservoir

The other manifold mounted

It's mounted via velcro so it's easier to fill the entire system when I get that far.

Another shot

mounting the Watercool block onto the gfx card

gfx without Revoltec ram cooling

gfx with Revoltec ram cooling

a blurry shot of the chipset block, CPU block and ram mounted onto the motherboard

shot of the mounted motherboard. Notice that all wires have been sleeved in a sleek black

closeup of the chipset and CPU block

Tygon tubing mounted. I can't believe how flexible and awesome this kind of tubing is to work with. Loving it!!!

Time to fill her up! A good idea is to run the system for a couple of hours (for instance while leak testing) with 50% demineralized water and 50% Listerine to make sure that the entire system is germ free

Make sure to rinse the system thoroughly with pure demineralized water afterwards.

The system/project is finished

final shots to come

The final shots

I'm just goin to leave these as is but feel free to comment (I know cablework is not as tidy as it could have been but it's because I've had to settle with an Antec PSU instead of the Seasonic one I wanted).

Thats it and that's that!

I hope everyone enjoyed the log and the progress (although slow at times)

I want to thank both the people and the users behind

Bit-Tech

PCApex

Gruntville

for their continuing support and encouragement throughout this project.

Any comments/remarks or ideas are always welcome and might be considered for my next mod so please, if you have anything, tell me.

As always I really appreciate you taking your time to listen to my ramblings. Thx for reading

Thundercats . . . . HO!!

Holy shyte knockers, you've done a fantastic job on this build. I love the clean look of the front. Overall, I'd give you a definite 9.75/10!!! I'm inclined to give you the full 10, but you've always got to leave room for the future.

I'm wondering (because I'm about to mount a Maxi-radiator on my Tt Armor) did you have to put any fender washers on the inside of the side panel you mounted the radiator to? I ask because the weight of the Maxi seems like it would buckle the side panel if I just used the hardware that came with it. I'm also going to be mounting Innovatek's 2x120mm radiator (the one you have mounted to the top of your case) right next to the Maxi.

Obviously, your build has been a HUGE inspiration for my build so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Would you be able to provide a simple schematic of the routing of your flow path. Nothing as complex as your first post, just a simple Pump->water block->radiator type of thing.

I've found a website (in America) that will mill my manifolds for me, so at this point my only query is about the mounting hardware for my two radiators.

Again, CONGRATULATIONS on such a beautifully polished finished product. Good luck in Los Angeles.

Hehe, dunno if I deserve a 10 but I definitely appreciate your comments a lot Since I had to rush the last part a bit it's not as clean as it could have been wirewise etc.

With regards to the Maxi radiator I didn't use any fender washers but I drilled out all the holes to accommodate my thicker screws and used bolts on the other side but I guess that since Innovatek designed the rad like that it should hold up with stock materials. Anything else would suck.

Don't be afraid to ask I don't mind helping at all. Feel free to mail me as well if you want.

Of course I can make you a schematic but you'll first have to tell me all the stuff that's going into the loop before I can do that.

About getting the manifolds milled hit me up so I can give you some pointers before you rush out and do it

No unwanted sideeffects unles you define a nice smelling system as being bad. Listerine rocks! But remember to rinse thoughroughly afterwards.

Also if a moderator feels like it please move this thread to the completed logs section

I totally agree!! No joke!!! This guy KEISARI is definitely a great role model and inspiration with regards to modding!!

As for the mobo and VGA, i'm sure he's on his way to upgrading!! I'd imagine it took a whole TON of cash to get his case to this point.

I watched this thing from day one, and I am blown away at the result. It has a very clean look to it (even with messy wires, its still "clean"). All the carbon fiber work really paid off as well. Job well done K.

btw, that redic-huge radiator on the side is the pimpest thing I have ever seen.

Wowi have to agree with the side rad, one of the coolest radsi've ever seen
Besides the mini tubing, i have to say that looks sweet, i prefer 1/2 in but i would like to see a nexxos system with that mini stuff you used and a really high flow pump
I also like you HDD cooling pretty nice looking, though that new koolance hydrapack or something looks sweeet at least you can see that cooling and it probally didnt cost so much

the dual rad design you have and all the drive bays ou filled looks pretty sweet and lights behind those logos on the bottom, and by the way that had to have been heck razoring those holes, but i have to say it paid off, and i would do it in a heartbeat after seeing this

Awesome work man keep it up
