I love this mod, your work is so clean and calculated, thats how i like to see things done. Plus i love hex screws, the ones you are using for the rez look so pimp, they're the only screws i let near my mods .

Can't wait for next update!

Ohoi! Time for an update in this ever so slow moving project
I wish I could work faster but for some reason it doesn't happen

Anywho I finished the spacer that will go underneath the 2 DualStars
Since it's so narrow it'll need to be screwed to the chassis

After painting it with 2 layers of Chaos Black

After applying the carbon fiber vinyl. It's squeezed between what I could find in the workshop to maintain its shape untill it drys (a piece of wood and an old harddrive cage)

I also drilled some holes for the DualStar to be mounted through (if you look closely you can see the other DualStar mounted right above it)

I drilled the holes for the case wheels bigger to accomodate some silencing grommets. It should take care of at least some vibrations into my hardwood floor (sorry for the blur)

Holes drilled and grommets inserted

Here you can see the space thats created by the grommets between the wheels and the case

wheels

more wheels

to make sure the wheels stay put I've glued the screws with 2 part epoxy

Finally I made some mounting discs (with silencing grommets of course) to mount my radiator to the grill

Cut a wedge into the case in the middle to mount the radiator grill "invisibly"

And last but not least applied some carbon fiber vinyl too the grill (all that's left is to cut out all the little holes with an exacto knife, which is going to take forever )

Untill nxt time, feel free to post comments and whatnot (I might not survive cutting 100+ holes in the grill )
thx for reading

That vinyl covered mesh will look fantastic when it's done dude - great idea! (and original too!)
Smart move with the grommets too

Take your time - we don't mind waiting the result's worth it

Default Project: K E I S A R I, 20 March 06

Update time!

This is only going to be a small update since I'm missing some parts and my camera just ran out of batteries

Finished the bottom spacer

Partly finished with cutting the holes

And finally I finished cutting all the holes in the grill and reaplying some black where the knife had scraped it off. While I cut the grill I figured I might as well count the holes and I ended up at a whopping 384, yikes! But dang I think it looks good so I'm very pleased even though it was a lot of work (probably 10+ hours)

Thats it for now but I'll post some more in the end of the week.

Thx for reading

Just writin' to let you know there's still interest. It's officially been 1 month since the last update so I thought I'd drop you a message.

PS - I'm still trying to find somewhere that provides that manifold, stateside. There's NO ONE who carries it. I'm also using an Innovatek 8mm system and I'm dying to find one of those. I may have to CAD up one and have it machined, but that's UBER time consuming.

Oh well.

Looking forward to your update.

I know, I know. I feel so bad for not updating for so long, but I've been wicked busy at work lately (Trying to catch up on all the ASP.Net 2.0 stuff, since we are migrating our company systems to that platform).

I can assure you that the project is still running (just not as fast as I had hoped) and I'm really aiming for a good update this weekend or the beginning of next week.

Have faith! It's coming

Default Project: K E I S A R I, 24 April 06

Aight! Finally time for an update.

As I've mentioned before I'm sorry for the lack of updates lately but I've got so much work on my hands at the moment.

Anywho. Sillynes aside and on to the update.

I've drilled bigger holes for the fan grills on the rear of the case so it would accomodate my nice hex screws and fit with the overall style of the case

I also shortened the screws with my trusty Dremel so they wouldn't protrude to much into the case

Next up I mounted the Innovatek reservoir and my custom made fan grill into the case

And a closeup (looking pretty imho)

I then made som discs with some damping foam on both sides to hold the middle of the radiator grill in place invisibly (not the prettiest but it won't show anyways)

Monuted the discs into the case (sorry for the blur)

The other side

I then put rubber gromets on top of the screws that's holding the grill in place. The idea with these gromets is that the radiator will be mounted real tight up against them and the foam discs in the middle to prevent any form of vibration throughout the case.

Likewise on in the other end (also added Noiseblocker EVO damping mats around the reservoir and damn they're hard to work with)

The radiator will be mounted with 4 finger screws, the custom discs I made a while ago and with locking anchors with a self locking nut at the end.

Sorry for the crummy picture but here you can see the radiator mounted with the above mentioned screws. I originally planned using 6 finger screws but 4 turned out to be plenty)

Another picture of the radiator mounted (after I attach the fans you won't see the golden locking anchors anyways so I didn't bother painting them)

Topview of the case after the radiator has been installed

Here's a pic of the reservoir mounted

After this was done I figured I'd silence the bottom of the case as well

And sleeve the wires

I also silenced the bottom spacer

The screws to mount the DualStars (I had to get some longer ones instead of the originals because I'm going to mount them with both a normal disc on the outside and a springlocking disc on the inside to make sure that they screw in tight and that nothing will vibrate once I power up)

The first DualStar mounted along with the bottom spacer

Both DualStars mounted with the above mentioned dubble disc system

Rear shot of the DualStars

And last but not least the money shot

Bling! Bling! notice the shine

That's it for this update and I hope it satisfied some of your needs
I'll see if I can get some more done next weekend and post some more then.
And thx for reading!

Untill then have fun with yet another fine 80's toon

+rep for you and your work, keep it up and you'll make a name for yourself in the modding work.
