My goal here is to make a pc and auction it off on ebay, with the proceeds going to the Red Cross to help with the recent disasters. This is my first mod and I plan on pouring my heart and soul into this thing. Im not looking for handouts from anyone other than business. Im posting this here for support, ideas, and critism. If anyone does have there heart set on helping I wont turn you away, I just dont want this to look like a plea to get free stuff. Moving on to what i plan on doing

The case im using is a Lian-Li pc70 plus Silver without the pre-modded side winow, the cpu is a amd64 bit, mobo is a K8N Neo from MSI, with a half gig of memory. My plan for the case is to cut a square with rounded corners in the lower center of the case, etch a clock face onto the window and rig up a led system so it works like a transparent clock, above the window im going to cut out the words " Time heals everything". On the back side of the case i plan on cutting out some oversized clock gears that im going to draw out and that will be lit up also. I plan on contacting Danger Den and seeing if they would be willing to give me a discount on anything for the water cooling setup as i understand they are a business and can only lose so much money on things like this. My color scheme that I have in mind right now is White / Blue. I have thought of anything yet for the front bezel or the top of the case.

Sounds like an excellent plan. Window etches are not hard to come by on PR, so just ask if you need an advice on that.

"time heals everything" in alot of cases this is not true, there are kids that have lost both their perents and individuals that witnessed thier families death infront of their eyes.

this said, i would recomend just putting "time heals" as alot of people are scard for life because of hericane katrina.

other than that, this is a great cause and it looks like you have well planned out theme going on here, GL on this project and if you have any questions just ask and a local pimp will answer.

I never looked at it from that point of view, In my opinion things will get better for all of them even if they have to get worse to get better, but you make a valid point and being this case isnt for me, I can assume fairly well most would agree with that stand point.

That's a great idea you've got going - sounds like you've got a good head on your shoulders and good planning going on (especially regarding the sponsorship idea from manufacturers) - I'd suggest to maybe try and gain some more exposure for your project - having plenty of people viewing the worklog (AND your frequent plugs for their brand and help) will most likely net you a bunch of support from them.

Maybe get in touch with the red cross and other sites that will get you coverage - hell, maybe even post on places like the AC ryan mod contest page - get them all to post a small write-up/link about what you're doing - It will also give your project more credibility in the eyes of potential sponsors (so they can know that it's not another person trying to weasel free product outta them)

...anyway, it's just an idea Good luck and I look forward to seeing this completed!

If anyone watches Attack of the Show on G4TV (extended cable channel about gaming) they have a segment called "It Came from Ebay". Where they showcase some interesting/odd things found on the online auction giant. When this project is completed and online, you should submit it to them. It would be a great way to get the word out.

Also, good idea, it's great to see someone being so charitable. If you need some spart parts, like CD-RW drives, dial-up modems or IDE cables, give me a PM, I'll get it to you for little-to-nothing. Honestly, it's no biggie!

EDIT: Another idea, while this may not work, you may want to contact the Red Cross or Salvation Army and ask if they might be interested in backing you. Then you could have a custom case badge made saying, "Sponsered/Powered by the charity of ..." Just an idea. Hope it was helpful.
