Recently my grade 11 computer engineering teacher was giving away a bunch pentium PCs....Or so he thought. I was interested so I looked around and saw the one that i thought was the newest and i was right. I brought it home and when i checked it was a P3!

Its specs were...
P3 400MHz
10.3GB hard drive
old ATI video card
48x cd-burner
basic floppy drive
14" DAEWOO monitor
black microsoft trackball mouse

I added....
an 80GB hard darive
a 64mb all-in-wonder 700 video card
basic keyboard
optical mouse
old zoltrex joystick

I plan on modding this computer soon and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

I'm gunna put some pictures of it up soon so you can see what i have to work with.

nice score, i have gotten o whole lot od things from my computer tech teacher. well as for modding, what do you like, or are there any ideas that come to you after you look at it? there are endless possablilitys, just go with something you like.

Well, what kind of stuff do you like? What are your hobbies? What are your favorite colors? If you want the case to be personal, it helps to have elements of yourself in it.

I dont know... i just want it to look good. i did a mod about a month or two ago and it turned out hideous. i got an mdg tower and spray painted it black. then i cut in the wholes, which was my first mistake. i should've painted it last. anyways... the cuts were horrible and i had to smoothen them out. i just gave up on it because it sucked.

Cuting the side panel into a nice shape
on the other side panel where the motherboard is closest to i plan on cutting a tiny bit of the bottom left part at the top im thinking about putting in some holes and cover them with fans
maybe spray paint the inside blue and the outside black
then i put blue lights and sleeving inside

how does that sound?

Sounds good! Try it and see what comes out. There have been times when BloodRun, my own maiden voyage into the world of modding, has had me on the brink of getting the sledge hammer. Just hold in there and keep working. If all else fails, Newegg has cheap cases...

if you ever have any problem with your holes for some reason, get some U channel molding. here. it will clean up any jagged edges or short scratches form getting off track. but i would defenetely invest in a hole saw kit, there a life saver and make beutifle holes.

and its not the end of the world if you chip or nick your paint...just do some touch-up with some car paint touch-up bottles...you can get them in any auto supply store or the auto section of your local superstore, just find the color that best matches your case.

but yeah, pic 1 or 2 of your favorite colors and go with it..remember that silver, clear and black are nuetral so you can fill in or paint any section with one of these options without getting your theme off track.

Happen to know what motherboard you have? The 100FSB PIII's can easily run at 133FSB with PC 133 memory. I have my PIII 450 @~600MHZ (133x4.5). Not that you are gonna be cranking out WU's or playing new 3D games with it, but it gives a little boost to performance. If you see the mobo's model number (usually the largest numbers/letters silk screened on the board), punch it in google and let 'er rip. Older machines are great for playing retro games, music servers, web surfing, and countless other tasks. Make certain to post up any questions/developments you come across!
