Default I messed up...

Ok... so i screwed up with something i tried to do previously...

I had a sweet setup id done in the top of my case, 120mm case exhaust and a 120mm direct into the PSU (involved basically turning the insides of the PSU upside down) All was going well untill... well... my genius PSU mod failed and the computer stopped working! lol. OOOOOOPS!

This meant two things

1) I needed a new PSU (got a snazzy Hiper Type R modular jobby)

2) I now have two holes in the top of my computer as the new PSU is longer than before and too nice to risk messing up with my make-do electronics!

So... what am i going to do?

Well... ive had an idea that i think could be pretty neat.

Just realsied my pics havnt been approved yet so will update tomorrow hopefully.

Bed now...

Night every1

maybe by turning the PSU upsidedown, something shortened out? Accidently cut something? When you say the computer stopped working, do you mean the PSU isn't powering at all?

Also, what is your new neat idea?

You are going to increase case temps by turning your psu upside down, and putting it's fan like that.

It is designed to suck hot air up from inside the case and exhaust it.

Have the fans on the outside of the case, rather than on the inside. There is small gap between the case and the powersuply. Shouldnt kill the airflow that much.

Not JUST cornflakes.... Crunch Nut Cornflakes! Yummy! hehe

Im pretty sure i know what i did wrong on the PSU. It wasnt shorting out it was a similar thing to when you clock you CPU too high for example... just kinda dies when things get too much for it. I reckon when i took some of the core power wires apart i didnt put them back well enough and so the transmission lines were weakened... or something like that. Either way its not a problem coz it just gave me an excuse to buy a new one :-) hehe.

Anyways... here is the plan...

The front grill is (as some of you mentioned...) a 120mm fan external to the case. The rear spiral grill is the tricky bit... Its (hopefully) gonna light up in line with my CPU cooler voltage. Ive got the IC chip, leds and other electronic bits coming in the mail... just need some thick acrylic and should be able to do it... so with low voltage only 1 LED is on and then one by one they light up as the CPU heatsink votage increases.

Im hoping to get the casing bit made today (just gotta convince my sister she doesnt need the rest of the sheet metal in the garage for her art project! lol)

Anyways... there we go. Back to uni tomorrow so could be a bit of a delay getting this done but worth a go i reckon.

Thanks for the interest
