This was the first heat exchanger I made ,what a failure. I wasnt sure so I asked at the welding shop if it was possible to braze stainless steel ,apparently he was wrong.I tapped it with a hammer and the braze cracked completely off.what a waste of 8 hours fabrication heres the evaperator. 19 feet of 3/8 Acr tube here it is fineshed, what a disapointment

No,Idont want to bug him unless I'm really stuck. I should be ok. and It was free because the whole front cover was smashed and thay didnt know what to do with it.I was lucky enough to hear the manager and an employee talking about it when shopping. It couldnt be disposed off easily because of the refrigerant in it, EPA rules and BIG time fines.

Yes, it will be fully Pimped. I plan on building an aluminum case with windows and lights. I have the materials allready, but that will be later in the build since its really another project alltogether. Designing this so compact is like trying to stuff 10 pounds of sh*t in a 5 pound bag. Everything has to be considered before assembly. Its gonna be pretty tight once its insulated.

Just fineshed brazing, bought the wrong captube though "doh" .I was hoping to purge and vacuem test it today. I live in the middle of nowhere Its 60 miles to the refrigeration supply company ,I might just get a tev instead of a captube, but I was trying to save some cash for the low temp coolent pump.

Went and got the captube, 2 1/2 hour drive.I found some documents on this compressor and figure its actually just shy of 1/2 HP.So im starting with 115 inches of Supco BC3 .052 I.D. captube. I started to purge it and inadvertently pressure tested it to 500 Psi with CO2 ( regulators broken)not cool .Purged it twice and pulled 29.5 in.Hg vac and its held for 3 hours .I'll purge and vac it again 1 more time to get any water out.Cant wait to charge it with some R290.I want to get this done and move on to building the case.More pics later.

I built the charging manifold for R290 (propane) today.Ive waited 24 hours with the system at 100psi, so far no leaks .I'll charge it tonight and see what kind of temps I'm getting

Well no leaks so iI went ahead and charged the system . Pulled some decent first temps . I havent put a load on it yet ,but the gauges show around -15 in.Hg vac, or about -60f unloaded. This compressor purrs, really quiet. The digital display temps are from the outside of the heat exchanger shell at the evaporator inlet .Next step, finishing the liquid loop.

that radiator is kick'n, ive only seen the streight flat one for this kind of project. For making this a compact system that Rad. will allow better cooling per sq. in.

keep up the good work, and after your done dip the whole damn thing in chrome...lol

Seriously.. right now i'm sure you'll get good temps, but it looks like a hillbilly's outhouse drainage.
Not that that's bad.. if that's what you're going for..

I'd make a cool little aluminum box or somthing that sits on top of / beside my case and have the tubing run out of the box and into the back of my case. You could cover the tubing in some of that metal flex tubing stuff, so that it look like mechanical tentacles or something.

HaHa thats funny.actually I mentioned earlier that I'll be building a custom case from aluminum / lexan to house everything, allready purchesed everything for that. I have to finish the liquid loop first ,it should be done tonight. I dont want to put any holes in the wrong spot.
