Default Project Ibuypower

Well its that time again.. Im going to buy a new computer and I know somebody from ibuypower.com so I can get a really good deal.. Normally I would just buy the parts seperate and build the system, however its actually cheaper to go with the discounted deal from my friend.. So right now im trying to decide on the parts..
I'm a AMD fan so of course I'm going to go the route of 64bit.. however they have this new dual core thing.. Im not famliar with dual core.. Im just wondering if its worth the extra cost..

AMD 64 Config
AMD 64X2 Config

Please be aware that I havent decided on a case or anything yet.. just getting pimps advice.. Im looking to spend 1000 on the config.. thats ofcourse before the discount.. sorry for the spelling errors and stuff.. I'm really sick and I just dont really care if i spell wrong.

So I think i decided on the regular instead of dual core because the price is a little to expensive for only a minor difference.. please tell me if im mistaken

Could you get a deal for the pimps here on PR?

The dual core..well has 2 cores, thus its better..while the other one has 1 core. If you have the money go for the dual core.

(psst..use the edit button)

And I really hope your going to mod that case some how..

I didn't check the prices, but if I was going to spend a chunk of change I would definitely go with a dual core CPU. Two CPU's taking care of the work that one normally does? Oh hell yeah. Don't buy a Cadillac without air conditioning. That's something my Father used to tell me.

I must add.. I went to my friends house a week ago and he had bought a P180 because of the ratings of quiet that he had seen. It is remarkably quiet, but also take into account that all of his fans are low RPM 120mm's as well as being on controllers, so that probably added alot into account.

The case has 3 (I think) different materials for the exterior lining, which is a new thing and probably helps alot.

If you are looking for the quiet factor, this case paired with a few panaflo's on controllers will do the job quite nicely, GL

Where does the project part come in? What mod are you planning? Surely buying a premade computer doesnt count as a "project"?

I can see it now - Project Dell Inspirion.............

What are your plans man?

I hafta agree here with aaron. Not to mention you can prolly find cheaper prices if you do it individually. BTW maybe you should finish your other case mod before you start a new one.

Yea ok that is why I priced out the same system on new egg for 912. Oh wait a minute that included a serial ata 2 harddrive. Not only that but a better DFI mobo and better OCZ ram with low latencies. You will prolly get some friggen 3 3 3 10 timings from ibuy. I must be going crazy.

The only thing i didnt find was the case on new egg. Used thrasher2's links

oh ok yeah.. I was also thinking of getting the MSI K8N NEO4.. But far as modding is concerned any ideas for the p180? I really like the side pannels so Im not sure if i want to add a window or not.. It would be cool to show off the inside of this case because of its cool inovative design. What i really like about this case is that is inovative and sleek. I really like behind the door and I love the fact that the door opens a full 270 dagrees.

I really like the dust filters for the front two fans.. the design goes with the case completely.. I was thinking of making the dust filters/fangrills chrome.. however this case looks so nice im not sure if i want to change it.. To be honest im completely satasfied with the looks of this case.. The only thing im not totaly satasfied with is the Steel Chassis.. Im going to paint it probably a nice flat black.. This case wont have a theme because I simply like it how it is... Im going to do some modding to it but not a complete over haul.. Im going to stealth the optical drives with a plain faceplate to go with the plane sleek look of the whole case.

since those doors swing 270, why not put a window in the door with an etch.? so when the light comes threw the fan filters the etch on your front door glows. and have the etch lined up to a side window with lighting so when the door is open the etch still glows from the light coming from the side of ur case.

or melt down the whole case and take an anvil and wh............... sorry went a little far.

I was in the middle of writing this, and ... something happened. Anyway ...
Beachbum, good idea on that door. Make a window. Hell, make the whole thing into several windows! Show off those front plates, add some LEDs, maybe tie them into the HD activity meter, or make them sound activated. Put some UV-paint on the backplate of those grilles, and light it up from the inside ... give a soft "halo" effect from the outside.

Hardware list:
  • CPU -- With that Athlon64, make sure you're getting the Venice core (though that might be all that's available in the 939-pin). It uses less voltage, therefore runs cooler, therefore overclocks well. Good couple of articles at: Sharky Extreme and AMD Zone ... plus, the dual-core AMDs are also 939-pin, so in the future you'll be able to swap and play (might need a bios update) when you do the eventual upgrade.
  • RAM -- like someone else said, go for the higher-end RAM: OCZ or Corsair XMS. I went from "value" ram with timings at 3-3-3-8 (which weren't terrible, actually), to XMS 2-2-2-5. Saw about a 30% improvement on load times for operating system, BF2, and lots of apps. Then I threw another gig at it, and I'm really happy.
  • Hard Disk -- if your new mobo takes SATA2, no reason not to go for it. Monetarily, not a big difference.
  • Sound -- Well, any onboard processing is going to impact your performance somehow. The new built-in audio systems are better, and consume less than they used to, but still affect your rig's overall performance. You can add an Audigy 2 Value for about $50 at NewEgg.
That's my story, I'm stickin' to it.

Of course im going to go with the venice... Ram.. Im probably going to go with the OCZ ram.. and i forgot to mention that I already have a sound blaster pro audagy gamer.. with my 5.1 surround sound headphones.. they are really nice headphones that actually work with the surround sound.. not to mention they are really really loud and clear.. I had them on max off of my head and well my dad could hear them from outside the apartment.. So sound is not an issue.. the only issue i see myself running into is price.. I can really only spend about $1000 so yeah.. Im lower class so its taken me a long time to save up..

Yea if that case did not wiegh in at a heavy 36 pounds I would be all over that if I was starting a new project.

That thing screams custom etched window and water cooling among many other things.
