| the modz started at 2am.. first removed bezel cut out that honeyconb crap. yes you see correctly that is a nibbler.. its 2am and i live in an apartment and the last thing people want to hear is the whining of a rotery tool.. its aluminum so it took under a minute anyway. well this is the case is stage one with the front 120mm intake modded for supreme duct blowhole action, just need to cut hole in the bezel later as it is very late..eer..early?? whatever. i need want to cover the front bezel with pre cured silver carbon fiber with 3m adhesive backing as it will form to the semi convex front panel very well and cut several other peices to cover up all the other crap on the front. im going with chrome-silver-clean style mod here so i already got the chrome polarflo cpu block. and i want to make some brackets out of silver carbon to mount my black ice pro 2 on top of this beast. prolly going to use clear tubing with no uv stuff.. but whatever happens....happens. this mod is easily able to change direction on-the-fly so any ideas and /or input is very welcome | ||

| I'm looking forward to watching your progress, I saw your original post on this case and it was very interesting. That mirrored motherboard tray is very nice and a chrome motif may work out very nicely. Stainless steel (so it looks chromed) braided sleeving and cables with as much chrome inside as possible might be a really nice look. Then inside, instead of colored lights just plain white which will really set off the chrome nicely. Chromed fans etc........Just a thought....... good luck, have fun! | ||

| well my attemps to locate rigid silver carbon for a good price are not going good... i am able to find black no problem at all for awsome prices so i thought that i could incorperate black carbon cause my rad. is black so i guess it will "flow". (im not going to use that fake crap either, so dont think of it . lol) here are some some pics i came up with in MS paint. i like # 2 better . any other combos that you guys could come up with would be nice to add. and i want to stick to black as the other color, as this is the only other color that is in my case.... oh and my L.I.S POP indacator is black/silver too so that will match. starting on the bezel tonight or in the morning. I love carbon fiber.. (when its already cured and pretty) lol. I think the name of this case should be "SILVER SERFER" | ||

I am liking the silver chrome thing a lot!!! Silver carbon fiber is available in small quantities at: http://www.sollerpaddles.com/composi...%20fabric.html This is DRY cloth. You can build your parts (or skins) from scratch using clear epoxy resin systems. I have 28 years of experience building and designing aerospace parts in 3 counties. I can fab almost anything in composite fiber materials and can help explain how to do it, it's a matter of how much work you want to put into this. I can explain how to take existing components, use them as a basis to prepare a mold to fab replacement carbon fiber parts. For computer case parts fab, very low tech procedures can be utilized. If you (or anyone else) is interested in going down this path, we can talk in more length via PM. I have been planning preparing a guide on this subject but I haven't found the time yet. Too many projects cooking. Last edited by prime-evil; 28-August-05 at 07:06 PM..

| awsome thanks for the feadback, i myself am able to construct/ fabricate out of raw carbon or fiberglass but to tell to truth i dont want to go that far with this considering my lack of workspace....<<<< apartment 3rd floor lol. i worked in a body shop for three years and did ALOT of body kit repair and molding, but your airplane thing pwns that .i saw that sight that you linked, and i found this one also that i think will fit the bill. http://www.robotcombat.com/marketplace_carbonfiber.html i finished the blowhole. ill post pics in a bit.. if i had the space i prolly would just make a duplicate bezel completely out of carbon. | ||

Great link on the rigidized sheets of silver carbon weave. Thanks!! Not being able to obtain carbon in silver and colors is one of the disadvantages in my shop. All the carbon fiber is purchased in black only. The specialized structural grades are always black, and the aircraft get painted anyway. I figured with the dry sheet you could at least form it and ridigize it into the contours you wanted, even radical curves. But you're right, it can get messy. Silver blowhole is looking fine! I imagine the grooves molded into the front panel under the blowhole area will disappear once you install the carbon fiber sheet. That'll be nice, right now the grooves amplify the off-center location of the blowhole. Nice concept for this case choice! Last edited by prime-evil; 29-August-05 at 08:14 AM.. | went over to home depot looking for possible parts, and came by some "modders mesh" and some sort of brackets for something, and thought that this stuff will work well for mounting my rad so i brought it home and cut the mesh to the right size and made the right angles, so i came up with this concept for mounting my rad. i like the mesh cause it somewhat matches the pattern of carbon fiber. thaughts please.. ![]() if i went with this design then i would sleeve the tubing with chrome braided sleeving going in through the top and use rubber "U"channel molding to seal sharp edges. ps. how do i change the name of the thread, if i can??? awsome thanx for the thread change.
BLING always welcome thanx. well i just came up with that name cause the case is going to me mostly silver, and ill prolly get my avator "O'NEILL" logo laser etched into my window by voyeurmods. but then again i might be able to come up with some kind of surfer in the backround that could BE Silver Surfer, that would be cool to put into this thing.

| i found these, the first one i think is better cause it gives the effect of BLING better. any more images that you guys think are cool please post. And im not sure if these need to be vectrorized or not, cause i know pics need to be, to be cut from a plotter, any body that is good with image overlays and stuff , it would be cool if you could post a pic with the O'NEILL logo overlap the surfer about waste level or any other combos ill throw some bling when i figure out how...*THRASHER* wink wink lol.. ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh and i broke open my piggy bank and ordered a full sheet of silver carbon, and i might have extra left over to put somewhere else but ill have to see exactly how much is left. I think the Silver Surfer guy would look really cool, silkscreened in black onto a chromed panel metal or plexi (on the right hand side of the rig......opposite side the windowed panel). I just realized that the pictures of the case didn't show a case window, kind of strange when they went through the trouble to put in a mirror finish motherboard tray. Are you putting a window in? How about a double layer panel, first layer (outer) is a mirror plated plexi with a unique design cut into it, the second layer, directly underneath, would be normal clear plexi. | oh yah i forgot to mention the "goodies" that shipped with the case. first, the window (in addition to the regular side panel) so this makes the whole left side of the case transparent. and second, a matching 5.25 bay digital temp monitor.. | ok i had to make a post just for this because i think its important. i want to eventually cool both vid cards (x850 xt PE) I have a rear 120mm fan hole, so should i use that hole to mount a black ice pro single rad there . so my loop would be like this.. PUMP>RAD(DOUBLE)>CPU>RAD(SINGLE)>GPU>GPU>PUMP or..PUMP>RAD(DOUBLE)>GPU>GPU>RAD(SINGLE)>CPU>PUMP or..PUMP>RAD(DOUBLE)>CPU>RAD(SINGLE)>GPU>GPU>RES>PUMP or..PUMP>RAD(DOUBLE)>GPU>GPU>RAD(SINGLE)>CPU>RES>PUMP or..PUMP>RAD(DOUBLE)>CPU>GPU>GPU>PUMP all you aqua pimps out there prolly know why i think i need two rads, my theory is that two oc'ed vid cards will add MASS heat to my loop, and that part of the loop will be the hottest so i think i should use my black ice2 for the gpu's and a single black ice for the cpu that will prolly be either a 64 3200+ or 3000+ obviously oc'ed. since the 64 prolly wont get that hot i dont think it will need the dual rad, or i could just get two ati silencer 5's and cool from air, i currently have one of these coolers for my agp version and it works great so i just might not nead to w/c the cards, to air cool the cards it would be about 75$ to water cool them including the other rad it would be around 150$ so id save a big chunk of cash so id be able to go crossfire sooner. And since this case has awsome cooling, the cards wouldn't be fighting to breath. Last edited by beachbum86; 03-September-05 at 04:48 AM.. | ||

| Hmmm you want to run 2 single 120mm Balck ice rads? Why not just a run a double or triple black ice extreme rad and mount under the top panel? That would make for quite a few less hoses and y connectors. OR better yet... mount it in the bottom of the case and draw in fresh cold air from under the case. ![]() If you are really wanting to cool your gpus and cpu (I generally tend to think water cooling the GPUs is more of a luxury than a necessity) then the loop path I would use is: Pump --> Rad --> CPU --> GPU --> GPU --> Res --> Pump OR Pump --> Rad --> CPU --> Res --> GPU --> GPU --> Pump | ||
