| dude sweet. im an aggie myself, currently attending, i cant wait to see how it turns out. to answer the questions 1. 530 will probably be enough depending on how good of a power supply it is. there are lots that claim to be 500+ but really arent. if its an antec or pc power and cooling i would say yes, if not its hard to say without knowing more 2. i think you could make air work, however i always prefer water if you can afford it. better cooling, quieter, and more bragging rights. now i have a question of my own? i like all the aggie logos and colors and such but why did you post with a pic instead of writing it out? nothing wrong with it i guess you just dont see it often o well welcome to pimprig, its always good to have aggie fans around (whoop), cant wait to see this sweet project. i saw the title and was like finally someone with some class ![]() | ||

| Apex Master Tech | Howdy Everyone. Sorry for such a long pause; we have been waiting for NewEggÂ’s back to school sales. A small change in the game plan, switched to the new X2 AMD Dual Core Processor after seeing the benchmark between the AMD/Intel dual cores. Also added Water-cooling parts, along with a number of other smaller things here-and-there, such as ram change, ectÂ… Any comments or concerns about parts. I would love as much feedback as possibleÂ… We expect to be ordering the parts within the next few days. New System Specs: ![]() | |

| Before buying your parts i think you should check out this thread. I posted it several weeks ago and was helped out by pimprig's watercooling guru AntiM. From the information i gathered from antiM the black ice micro 2 isnt going to be sufficent enough to cool the hardware. You would be better off going with a bigger rad than the 80mm it will overall give you better temps. Check out this thread..... http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=49928 I thought id post this since it was my first shot at watercooling. Without antiM's assistance i think all the money i would have spent would have been a disappointment by not seeing better temps than air cooled. Let me also add about the PSU Here's a nifty extreme psu calcuator to help you select a psu for your needs. Just input the data and it will tell you what you need...... http://www.extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp I hope this helps........ | ||

| Ok the problem is the koolance HDD cooler is not really necissary and it will only raise your temps. You dont really need to cool your hdd down with water. Just put a fan infront of it. Not to mention the koolance stuff is 1/4 inch not 1/2inch. Ok now that that is outa the way. The next problem I find is with that rad. It is super small. You are trying to cool too much stuff on your w/c with to small of a rad. The rad wont be able to cool off the water enough and it will increase your water temps. Your better off going with a bigger rad and loosing the HDD cooler. | ||

| I dont know if you made a mistake but you left the hard drive block still in your pricelist. As for the polorflow tt series...... Is it a 2 or 3 barb block? I must say im not too up on watercooling but, the danger den txd water block for the 939 socket has some pretty good reviews. It even beat their rbx version with 3 barbs. I really couldnt say much for the polar tt but i thought you'd like to know. Let's hope one of the cooling guru's see's your post and helps you out with their watercooling expertise. | ||

| Apex Master Tech | Hey everyone. I am still here, and plan of ordering parts very soonÂ… (still switching/upgrading parts as I they come out) But, before I repost the final (new final) specs and order partsÂ… I was wondering which pump to choose for my setup. (Remember I will be upgrading to an SLI setup in a few years) 1) The Danger Den DD12V-D5 [LINK] 2) The Fluid XP+ Magnum Pump [LINK] | |

| i love polarflo stuff. if you dont already know that block comes in both 2 or 3 barb coniguration. so if your going high flow use 3 barb. and for the low flow use 2 barb. DD D5 all the way baby.. with that pump you can use the 3 barb configuration. are you going to use a res. or doing a "T" line? and i see that you still have that res/pump on your list for 129$ . i would just go with a typhoon bay res. or somthing in tubular form.. save some money and add some bling to the mix.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the link <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< and i know the shark tower looks cool inside and out. but something to think about, the side honeycomb stuff allows dust to enter the case. (anyone that can confurm this please post) (check my gallery to see a all polarflo settup...the polarflo pump is the same as the D5 basically) Last edited by beachbum86; 18-September-05 at 06:36 PM.. | ||

Thanks for the advice on the pump, I think that I am leaning towards the DangerDenÂ… More-Less just wanted everyoneÂ’s opinion between my top two choices. Yep the block I am using at the moment is a three barb, for max cooling.
Not 100% sure as of the moment. But I am leaning away from doing a t-line, to make the flow rate better. Any Ideas/ Opinions that you water cooling GuruÂ’s out there would like to addÂ…
DonÂ’t worry. I have made lots of little changes to the system specs, since we are working with a budgetÂ… (Now smaller than it originally was since Texas A&M is now requiring students to take a min. of 15 hrsÂ… up from 12, therefore requiring a lot more $$$) I was waiting for some ideas on which Pump to use before I posted the updated system specs, but I figure that I will (for the time being) just place down the DD pump on the list, since it seems to be the way I am leaningÂ… Look for my post later tonight with the updated Specs.
Did I catch it? I was there! It was a massacre! Same thing is going to happen when we vs. texas later this year! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hey, I don't know if your interested in this but I have just the case for this project. I am an Aggie and a modder. Therefore, I have for you a completely modded Antec SOHO case that is worthy of this hardware. I've posted picks of it before over at overclockersclub.com. I am willing to give this case to you simply in exchange for recognition of my work. You can contact me at aggieknight06@yahoo.com or cisco500@neo.tamu.edu. Originally, I was going to donate to my outfit as I was in the Corps of Cadets Company N-1. Anyways, love the hardware, but I have your case. Gig 'em Will | |
