| Well as most of you know, I have been at PR for about 7 months. I haven't really done to much modding besides cutting a window. This is going to be my first full case mod. My original Idea was to do an ATI Crossfire themed case but I will be going to college in 3 weeks and the parts aren't out yet. The Parts: Case: AMS gTower CF-1009 Mobo: DFI LP Ultra D will be upgraded to the Crossfire board CPU: AMD X2 4400 ![]() Ram: 1gb of OCZ EL Gold Edition Ram (BH5) Will be upgrading to 2gb. Video: Sapphire X800XL PSU: Silverstone Zeus 650W SLI Certified Addons: ATI HDTV Wonder Tuner card Sound: Creative Audigy 2 HDD's: 2 76 gig Raptors, 120 gig Cooling: DangerDen TDX Misc: Dragonmodz hardware The Plan: I will be doing this before I leave for school so its a short period of time. I will be mounting a dual fan heater core up top. I will leave the 2 front 80mms fans as is due to time. There will be a hole on the bottom for a single 120mm fan. As for paint I plan on painting the inside black and the outside red with some sort of design. There will be ATI logos painted on to each of the fan filters as well as one big one somewhere on the outside. Due to time these will be the only major mods to the case. In the future I would like to build some sort of bezel or door for the front as well as some secret ideas. I will be posting pictures either tomorrow or monday. Thanks for reading. Any ideas, questions, or comments are welcome. You will be seeing alot of boxes filled with parts pretty soon. Last edited by Cpt.Planet; 23-August-05 at 12:50 AM.. | ||

Or, what about painting it mostly white, and doing a red smoked acrylic front and side, with some red lighting? With that pre-cut window, it doesn't leave a whole lot of room to play with. How about a huge ATI logo etch?

| Thanks for the ideas guys. Originaly i was thinking of doing red outside adn white inside. WIth a chrome cut out of the ATI logo on the right side panel. I really wanna get rid of that acrylic front i just dont like the way it mounts with those chrome screws. I am thinking of doing a red water in my h20 setup. The ATI logos one will be painted onto the right side panel as well as all of the fan filters. Sorry GPN all the packages have been ordered. As far as the comment of how much and stuff. I saved up my money from like December, with parts and everything I estimate abouth 2,600 maybe more. I also forgot to mention that I ordered a 20 inch Dell LCD for this as well. | ||

| Darn it, I tried... ![]() Got an idea for you, although it's more of a "Are you willing to dish out the cash, try it, and see what you think" than a suggestion based on personal experience... I was in AutoZone the other day, and I came across something I hadn't heard about before. I can't remember the brand (maybe Duplicolor, maybe not), but it was about the size of a half rattle can (and $10 each, too ), a clearcoat with glitter specks... If you've ever seen the chrome tape with the itty bitty circular or square shapes that reflects much like a rainbow/holograph, you know what I'm talking about...Turning the picture over in my mind, having the glitter clear coat could/would look almost like a Candy finish, whether to the painted red parts, or to the chrome ATI logo... Also, unless you really like the finished product and feel like doing the whole case, you shouldn't need more than one can of the stuff... | ||

I think this was what you were talking about. I am working on a design right now. I will be doing a base coat of regular red then some sort of design with that duplicolor metal speck in red and silver.

Yea I noticed that before. Well I only have a few weeks left. I got some work done tonight. The 120mm fans up top are cut and ready to go. I forgot my camera in my dads truck so I will post some pictures of it tomorrow. I like the way it looks with just a chrome standard fan grill and some aluminum filters. Tomorrow ill get a coupla pics of the case and the heatercore setup. Tomorrow everything but the mobo and cpu should be in. Then tuesday the mobo and cpu should be in. Things I need: Misc W/C Parts Plexi for window (one in there is buggered up) Bondo Paint and Supplies Edit: Woot Dragonmodz stuff came in Saturday. | I was on the phone with Bill (mnpctech) a couple weeks ago, and in the course of the discussion, he mentioned that Bondo tends to crack if you try to apply it over too large an area, and too thinly as well... He suggested a body filler made with fiberglass, although I can't remember whether it was short- or long-strand fiberglass that worked best... I haven't really worked all that much with either, but coming from Bill, I take his advice to heart... As for the plexi, if you haven't ordered/bought it yet, I'd recommend a local glass store, they can usually get you the thickness you want, and in a more customizable/manageable size (plus, no shipping charges! EDIT: OR, you can always take advantage of the 24/7/365 Dealio Pimpster, THRASHER2... ![]() Last edited by GrandpaNoob72; 07-August-05 at 10:27 PM..

The bondo is only to fill small screw holes that were left by the original mounts for the windows. They are little chrome screws that look like a airplane rivet and they just clash with it. THRASHER2 I will take some measurements tomorrow and let you know. Thanks bro.
