Now that's hot rodding at it's best...................your right, that is alot of work............When I had my 70' Mustang, there was this one guy who did a similar conversion where he took a 90'-something Chrysler LHS and put a V6 with drivetrain in the rear.............Those conversions are wicked-tough and you have to have your **** together to work out..........Props to you man

I think it's sweet, but would like an explanation how they work together, or work apart.

I've seen two twin motor cars but they were both the same motors with the same specs. Do they work independly of one another?

You can correct me if I'm wrong Hemi.........but did you use both the Prelude engine and it's transaxle....if that's the case.........the only thing connecting them in regards to power delivery would be the road since the Delorean's rear engine and trans axle can work independently from the front motor.............I would assume that the trannys are automatics.........and that basically it's 4-wheel drive........

Twice the horsepower, twice the gas price! I would think the front engine could control the front wheels and the back well, the back. I could also see them both going through one driveshaft, and it could use a differential to keep them from fighting one another. One may shift to third while the other is in second, with the differential the engine in second could rev up to third and come back to help smoke that rice a block behind him.

The way most automatics work, they use a shift governor system that employs weights. The system is very similar in operation to the mechanical advance systems found on distributor ignition systems. It's all based on engine speed and/or road speed and it really is not an issue regarding what gear either one is in.

EDIT: As far as gas prices, cars like these don't get driven everyday......same with hot rods......so gas prices are not an issue.

Yes thats how its setup....But with a few "kinks" still in the works... The Gas tank sits under the driver side seat...And holds about 35 GAL.......I have a few more things I want to do with her but as it is I have about $40,00 + the cost of the car.....

so um.. you thinking about making a computer case that looks like the delorean? if so i would make it out of stainless steel.. isnt that what the delorean is made out of? also i would have the doors for the drives to open like the doors on the delorean.. that would be sweet.. and if your not going to make a computer mod then im curious to why this thread is in case modding..

Um i dont know if this is reviving an old thread but, how did u get one tranny to work with both ? or did u use 2 automatic trannys ? and lets say your going 240 and the engine in front can only go like 200.. wouldnt that force the front engine ?

The slower engine wouldnt slow the other down, it wouldnt help it, it would just sit in neutral. Like when you are riding your bike... if you were going fast in a high gear and downshifted, it doesnt slow you down but you cant make yourself go any faster. Horrible explaination.

i'm also curious about how u get both sets of wheels to spin at the same exact speed? even in cars with 2 idendical engine/transaxles there has to be a computer system to keep the engines syncronized with each other.
