| Ok so its time for me to build my own case. im using an Antec full tower case, and im going with a car engine theme. Somehow i'm gonna mod a timing chain in the front of it, and have it turn a camshaft on the top or side of it. The fan controller is gonna be made from a heater-A/C control panel from an older car. on top its gonna have a cowl induction hood molded into it. insted of a normal window, im trying to find a way to make it look like the original Crager SS rims. this is the timing chain im gonna use......need to figure out a way to make it turn..... the camshaft that the chain will turn.... fan contoller mod this into the side panel somehow....... and make the top of the case look like this.... now im tryin to figure out a way to make the chain turn on its own. motorized somehow, but turn slowly. i dont want to mod the whole wheel into the side, but make a 3-d replica. as for the hood, i have to make that on my own with fiberglass.....fun stuff there. anyone else have any cool ideas on what else to mod into it? im gettin the dremel out tonight, and startin this thing---will post pics as i go.... | Hmmmm...the major challenge I see will be making the timing chain setup actually turn. Due to the weight alone, it'll take some good support, a sturdy axle, and quite a little motor to crank it...let alone the power consumption. If you could mock up a smaller version, maybe a motor from a rock tumbler or something might work? | ||

| Don't forgt having a key switch :-) As far as a motor to turn the timing gear, you can get your hand on a used power window motor pretty cheap, some of the later model ones are actually quite small and quiet but very strong due to the worm gear drive. I've used several in robotics projects and they are kickass for their size. For the hell of it you could put in a power antenna and have it pop up when you start your rig... if you have room. If you go liquid cooling you could incorporate a washer bottle, small coolant resevoir or gascap somehow. Maybe put a car door handle on the door. Or maybe a wiper arm on the window? Exhaust headers? To power all of the car equipment with all of the nasty brushed motors and their effects you could use a secondary PSU slaved to the first. I have one I refitted into an old cdrom drive case in my top bay for extra crap. For an old AT just use a 5 or 12 volt relay where the switch was, for ATX use the relay to bridge the green wire with any black wire. I'll stop rambling now. | He'll probably have to build some sort of "cradle" for the cam & timing gears........what might be cool and feasible is to cut down the cam (from the front to the next cam bearing area) then use cam bearings mounted in a support ....................add a lil white lithium grease for smooth operation | ||

i do have an OHC head that i could somehow steal the cam bearings off of--and maybe the mounts---its the same size bearings too.... and that cam is a roller trick flow cam out of a 5.0. and i still have the roller lifters....i might do something with them too...

Now there is an idea, with the hair, bone, and excess blood...sounds like an interesting idea! ![]() I bet we could find some left overs still at the crash site. (extra details...eyes?)

| some more options for turning stuff are these tamiya gear boxes you can get at most hobby stores. they make a variety of gear box kits for your imagination to move. a modified rc servo works well too if you really want torque. you basicly remove the pot and it will spin continuously. | ||
