Default Project: Stranger (very newbie here guys)

Hi all

I am glad that this project is about to begin. wow. I am very new, I mean as new as a new. Never done a mod before neither building a pc. Its my first time. I have the budget required, order almost 40% of required stuff, all needed is for delivery.

Case is ready made and window. I personally wouldn't call this a mod project but a build project. Also, in this section, majority of people who post project are 100% mod'n'pimp
I believe with the help of this forum, I can succeed on this mission. Theres no picture on this post but as there'll defenetly be one as every step I take. Once I finish this project, I am 100% sure I'll do a step further of modding.
--------------------------------

As you may know, mwarsame always asks questions ad heres one:
I was looking in the project areas and one project had its own custom text on the grill and on the window.
How is this done?

cheers
-mw

First off it would help if you had a picture or a name of the case you have.. If you have a name of the case then i can look up a picture and give you ideas and input off of that.. so since your new to modding I think it would be good too take a look at the turtorials found below:
or you can go to the following index pages:
Computer Basics Modding PimpRig Paintshop Special Projects Water Cooling
So yeah read those and maybe get a cheap practice case and you will be set to go.. any further questions feel free to ask around.. Pimprig has plenty of experts

If you want a Quick and Dirty Etch...these guys have some Sweeeet Kits.
http://www.thepcmodshop.com/products.htm

The front would look sweeet if there was a
Chrome Turbine Fan in the Bottom front.

Ok I agree with the turbine fan in the front.. It would look really cool.. but if that is a 80mm fan in the front then you wont be able to get one.. If it is 80mm then i would sugest getting this fan.
I would also change the fan grils on the side.. they are to plain... Then continue by painting the inside a nice color.. If you like a nice glow i would suggest going UV on this case.. Paint the indside of the case with UV reactive paint and uv reactive cable sleeving for the PSU.. you would turn this ordinary pre-mod into a kickass saweet mod.

thanks guys, its been long time huh

I'm charging battries, I am going to take some pics later n post it here. I bought a Gauge, blue neons, 3.5" fan controller.

for now I really need ur help guys

this is the mobo that I bought,

my case has funny cables, not really but it has some cables that I dunno where they should go?
here they are:

POWER LED
POWER SW
RESET SW
& HDD LED

I could figure out where they suppose to go, I read mobo manual, read the tutorial book which says "I am in my own in this section, because mobo and cases have different stuff" from my understanding, its one of the easiest but hay...

guess what, I bought XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB, what do u think, wicked huh

pics are coming soon
-------------------------------

also, I think I'm running out of the wires that come from the PSU, what should I do,
lastly, the neons I bought, and the fan in the window side has two different plugs, one fits perfectly into the wires that come from the PSU, the other doesn't, can I use that plug to power up lets say the sound card

On some cases (all I think) Those connectors are color coded or they where they go on them. On motherboards the connectors they go onto are color coded also (but they dont match together..). They also have the names of where they go on the motherboard too.

Just touch your case (with the powersupply PLUGGED IN not turned on though) and you will be fine..OR touch any metal grounded object...such as a water pipe (copper of course) or something with a 3 prong plug..(or a door knob)

Plug some speakers into you mobo's onboard sound, power it up and the board with tell you what is wrong. I may be reading your post wrong, but you need memory installed for your mobo to POST.

Why are you testing everything with a sound card in? Put only the things that matter in first..Removed the sound card and put in the memory..

The bios is easy..just read the manual that comes with the mobo. Everything (except the overclocking stuff) is pretty self explanatory.

Ahh Yes, Overclocking..

Its done in the bios. There are many ways to overclock such as:

1)Adjusting the Multiplier
2) Adjusting the FSB
3)Adjusting Vcore
4)Adjusting memory Timings
5) Adjusting Vmem (voltage on the memory)

There are more, but part of learning involves duing research. Use Google and look up "how to overclock" or Overclocking.

Also, what kind of CPU are you going to be using again? You may want to do a specific research on your mobo and CPU, especialy the mobo to see if you can overclock with it or to see if your CPU is unlocked.
