Default project: bash in a box

ok so i'm not totally set on the title/name for this project yet (any sugestions) but i've decided i've done enough planning and am ready to begin modding. i've been asking the questions and doing the research for a little while now while i acuired the funds to truely do this mod right. and now down to busness.

i will be modding my smoked acrilic case.

I wil be startign by doing some serious wire management (as you can probly see i really need it. and yes i know i'm horralbe at sleeving wires, so i'm doing the whole thing with split loom, i hope it looks good)

i'm going to put my on board speaker mod on it, meaning i need to redo it.

i'll be running a keg tap though it.

and somtime in the middle of it all i'm going to be upgrading the mobo, cpu, and graphics card. (i'm not sure to what yet but i need it, i'm almost thinking of trying to get a dually board to fit in there.)

i'll be redoing the fan grills/holes/vents.

if i have time i may even etch the backside of the case, to add some flare.

so thats most of it. no real suprises for you, well one maybe, its more of a twist.

What does the front look like? It looks like metal? Or is it plexy?

With that arcrylic side pannel i would do some etching.. I would also think about putting in a black light.. I think it would be pretty saweet if you did that.

ok as for teh etching i may be doing some on the back side behind the mobo. and at the moment there are some blacklights in there but i dont have anything that in uv reactive. sorry about the delay in the post response.

ok heres whats been going on. i've assembled the frames for the speakers and monted them however i'm going to need to cut the hd rack to instale them into the case. the speakers are 1.5 inches adn i only have 1 inch of space so they wont fit with out some cutting, so i'm putting that on hold to do all the suttingat the same time when i upgrade, still an undecided time, as at that time almost everything will be out of the computer anyway.

as for the keg tap mod we were planing to instale a small pump into the line, for non-homebrewed stuff, but there is a problem in that the pump isn't self priming which is a small problem, as it wont do its job (its perfect once it is primed though). so that is on hold and back to the brainstorm stage. though i may just go backt to the old idea of a simple line through the case. it would be simple and effective.
andas i built a wire box out of acrilic i felt very nubish, as i didn't give the joints enough time to set and removed the blocks to soon, now they arn't square. so if you read this

"LET ACRILIC JOINTS SET FOR TWICE AS LONG AS YOU THINK THEY NEED TO BEFORE TOUCHING"

listen to it. someone already said that in one of the how-to's i've read but i defenently did not listen, woops. dont make the same mistake as i did.

i'll have pics soon.

ok so i've cut out the frames for the speakers, and cut the holes in the sides of the case.

form there i did a test run fitting for the speaker to make sure that they would fit alright.

they seemed to fit alright, i only needed to do some small modifications to the sockets/eylits/holes

and when turned around they looked sweet, at least i think so.

thats currently as far as i am on this project right now. tomarrow i'll be making a run to the store to get some wire for the actual speaker wiring.

in an other part of teh project i've got the tapping faucet set up and ready to test out. i set it up through a case box. it seems to work alright, that is to say i dont have any leaks and the flow is really about perfect, you knwo not to fast and not to slow.

we tested it out tonight, at the poker party i had.

Wow looking good! Do you think there will be any issues with the magnets of the speakers and the components inside the case? Plus you should finish those holes off with something along this line http://www.mnpctech.com/mnpctechblowhole.htmlwould look sweet!

thats actually right allong the lines of what i'm planning to do, i've got the metal mess from the original speakers, and i was going to use it to fill the holes. as far as teh magnets, i've had a simple music server running with a magnet on the HD just to test how it could effect it, and it hasn't. not only that but they were originally computer speakers, and are shielded, so i'm thinking its not going to be a problem. however i am going to be moving the HD up on top of my DVD drive, for some extra protection.

alrigth a quick update and i dont have any pics, just forgot to take some.

i have teh holes cut out for the speakers to fit in to the case. not in the side they were already cut but in the HD rack. and most the wiring is done on them. power, audio in and the volume nob are all hooked up. i need to get the power switch and light wired and and mounted and they will be ready to test.

the tap faucet and line are in and work really well.

for teh wiring nightmare that this has proven to be. i'm useing split loom to house all the wires together and make it look like one nice neat package. (i'm generally very against split loom i dont really like the look but the look its giving me throught the smoked acrilic and under teh red light i think almost makes it look really good. defenently better that teh regularly sleeved wires.) i've also built two boxes to house wires. one to go into one of teh drive bays and one to act as a sort of false floor. running on the bottom of the case. i'm currently tryign to paint the boxes black though since i'm usign some cheap paint they seem to be slightly resiliant to an even coat. so what i've decided to do is, after primer and the initial preperation, i'm doing two really light coats, fallowed by some wet sanding. it seems to be working really well to give me an even finish. though i've only done 4 coats so far and we eastimated that it would take about 8 with how light they are. so i'm half way there.
