Well, my warranty on my eMachines m6809 ran out on the 6th, everyone knows what that means, right?

I've completely torn everything apart already, applied the bondo in some of the lines and the emblem indentation. Now I'm priming it up, all looks good so far.

The final color will be Plasti-Kote Kameleon Kolor (green-purple-blue), I wanted to go with something I've seldom seen in a laptop.

cool. does the color vary between those 3 or is it all mixed together as one?

I sence a disturbance in the metallic spray paint section...that you Peng? Looks good so far...are you going to try aiding the cooling at all?

I'm already quite amazed at the cooling that Arima (the OEM) incorporated, but I will be using AS5 when I remount the HSF/Heat pipe unit. The only thing non-cosmetic I am doing is fixing the dreaded screen flicker that plagues this model line. And maybe boosting the RAM to 2GB.

I also did a test paint on a spare palm rest I have a few weeks ago, I'm impressed by the Kameleon Kolor, but I am disappointed that it doesn't shift into the blue spectrum as much as I'd hoped. Also, it will require LOTS of clear coats to make it durable and smooth. I'll likely have the screen platics done this week and the rest next week.

EDIT: I chose the Plasti-Kote Kameleon Kolor beacuase it is the only color-shifting paint that can be purchased in individual cans rather than as a kit (Wal-Mart has it in the automotive section.)

I have the same laptop. How do you plan on getting the screen flicker its annoying. Good Luck

Check the guides here: eMachines Resouce Portal v2.0, Compman55 put a good one together.

I've actually sent mine off for repair twice and it came back within a week, using the guide on doing it yourself apparently resolves the issue entirely.

I've actually considered modding my Dell c610.

you know, this gives me a good idea, i ahve an old laptop, not good for much else other than surfing and folding, but it is ugly, i definatly got to mod it an do some more seriousthings, then the basic stuff i have done before

Well, the lid has been primed and sanded smooth (enough until clear coat...) I've begun the base coating of the lid now.

The beauty of the Plasti-Kote method is that the base coat is a plastic dye and the rest of the unit doesn't require priming, I expect about another week of work until it's done and I'll post final pics, once I've got the base coat done, I'll post those pics.

I have a 3 yr old Gateway YGR 600 that I think I'm going to mod into a frisbee soon

I've decided to avoid adding any graphics, I hope the paint ends up cool enough that I don't need to add anything else. Time to go get a buzz, errr... add more base coat.

ohhh a lappie mod, I'll have to keep an eye on the penquin. I wanna see how the paint turns out.

I've been watchin for lappie mods as my daughter has a black laptop that she wants "not black" (I'm still workin on her camo machine and I don't know if I'll be able to spray just one color )

OK I lied I did decide to help with cooling, I noticed that my HSF had a gouge in it where it sits on the CPU die, so I lapped it. I'll add pics later.

BTW, Lapping that thing was near impossible due to the stand-offs getting in the way. I had to cut a piece of glass 1.25" wide and wrap the paper around it to get in there.

P.S., Even though I've got the pics of the Kameleon Kote ready, I'm going to hold off until I get the clear coat done since the effect won't change that much.
