| "Actually I'd have to say the project opinions section... But thats me. Now as far as opinions... dang... very cool! You used the Black and red very effectively especially with that red Cold Cathode you stuck in there... but I have to ask... have you considered just getting an all black keyboard then perhaps keeping it all black and maybe put some red on it?... The whole Black and white thing throws off everything else... But very impressive none the less! Keep up the good work... Although before I leave... on the sides of the drives... is that white I see!?!" smirks "Keep up the good work... and fix those white spots!" continues to smirk jokingly Kit | ||

| hmm, dunno why there is white, i painted the hell out of the drive faces, no white was left, only thing left untouched was the internals of the drive tray and the volume control on cdrw, ill bet it was a reflection when the camera flashed (thats what it kinda looks like to me)... and perhaps one of the moderators can move this thread, i wouldnt mind, ijust wanted to make sure that SOMEONE saw it before it went the way of Menudo... | ||

| and about the keyboard, when i find the means, the keys themselves are gonna be red...along wth the mouse and possibly the monitor...who knows, and a correction...the lighting is not a cc, it is a 12 volt car taillight, f00kin night and day considering the amount of heat this thing puts off...but its so gorgeous i cant help but use it instead...believe me when i say that this rig is a "work in progress"...and im falling in love with her all over again ![]() | ||

| Coel used tail lights also, but it is a fine alternative. I would suggest that you find a different background so that the Strong balck and red coloring stand out on their own. Nor sure what would be best, but something besides a black background. It also feels like it needs something, some kind of accent or pattern to break up the very large areas of Black and Red, they are a little over powering, how much of this is caused by the black background, I can't say. But it's getting there and if you ever go to Lubbock Texas, the Red Raiders would love you ![]() Edit: Actually, that's not a bad idea, The Red Raiders have used a Black and Red theme for ages, go to the University website and get some ideas on coloring, backgrounds, trim, and accenting. Browse these links: Red Raider merchandise RedRaiders.com Red Raiders' Booster Site Red Raiders Wall Coverings Hope you find something here, looks like they use a lot of white accenting to balance things out. | C'mon guys, nobody has a license to use certain colors! There's only 7 major colors in the rainbow (not including black/white/shades thereof), so there's ALWAYS going to be someone with a case painted the same color as yours. That's why a theme helps to distinguish it and give it character and makes it personal. Wixx, there's at least TWO more people, not just one, that don't always use bloo. Speaking of which, all these months, I don't recall ever seeing any opinion or comment of yours on my Gargoyle case...I was looking forward to your thoughts! Was it bad to use bloo to backlight the cross? ![]() | ||

You have to tell me these things. I haven't quite mastered the art of reading your mind yet. I assume this is the case you refer to? What I hate about bloo are black cases with bloo lights in windows. A lot of manufacturers now are selling premades with bloo. My very first case mod (actually it made Maximum PC's "Rigs Of The Year " issue, 12/01) was an InWin Q500 that I painted black and put bloo in. Then everyone else started doing that and my case suddenly lost its cool factor. As for your case, what stands out the most is the textured surface; most cases are smooth, shiny, and bright; yours has a rough, weatherbeaten look and feel, and it complements the gargoyles nicely. The CPU ductwork was a smart idea, and I'm sure your processor runs quieter and cooler because of it. Although I wonder if it might look more "evil" with red behind the cross instead of bloo, the art is great, the uniqueness and creativity are superb, and the workmanship surpasses most other cases, including my own. Come to think of it, I can't really find anything with your case that I don't like at all. The only problem I see in your writeup at all is the picture of the 12V indicator lights with weak, inferior Canadian currency. ![]() Your case is the epitome of case modding and gives me inspiration. Congratulations on a superb job well done Last edited by Wixx; 07-January-03 at 02:30 PM.. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| looks good fuelman, now, for me to get the cajones to go paint my own case... im working my way up to cutting large holes in it next week... but very nice, once the white keys are gone, and if u paint the monitor, its gonna be one hell of an attention center at LAN parties u attend. Good Job! | ||

| ...but back to the original point of this thread... Fu3lman, you've been posting a lot lately and from what I've seen already posess a great deal of skill. I've been following your posts from the beginning and your case has come a long way from its initial state. It looks damn good right now, and from what I can tell there are only a few small areas for improvement. The first thing I think you should do is clean up the wiring on the inside of the case. In the picture you posted in the gallery, there's a shot of the camera looking down on the inside, and from what I can tell there's wires scattered around. I would recommend you try to group those together using some heatshrink or split-loom tubing to give it a more finished feel. Another thing I notice is that light is shining differently off the metal parts of the case than it is on the plastic parts (I could be hallucinating too, maybe it's the way the camera took the picture). If the sheen really is different, it could be due to differences in how you painted the two materials, and a few quick-and-dirty coats of clearcoat across the board should fix that right up. This is just my opinion, of course, but the way you took the picture and how it makes it look like there's a white outline around the drives--well I think it looks great, and helps accent the drives. It's your case, of course, but if it was my case I would actually leave a pencilthin white border around parts on the drives to help bring that out. Just remember that case modders are artists, and your paintbrush is a can of spray paint and your canvas is a metal box. Don't just cut a hole or put in a window or install lights or paint something some color unless you are trying to create an art. You are a Picasso, not some kid with a box of crayons. ![]() | ||

| thanx for the kind (and critical) remarks everyone, and now a little humble pie...i couldnt get a better shot of my case (directly from the side) because the space between my rig and the wall is ~1.5' wide and there isnt enough slack on ANY of my wires to allow me to just drag it out...i know i could have unplugged it and sat it somewhere else powered up but you forget...im a lazy bastage...and im finding that you guys are kinda picking up on that, lol... yes the wires are stil a mess but i have a spankin new pack of shrink tubing sitting on my desk as we speak, so when i feel inclined ill tear back into it again... and as far as painting...well...(see "lazy bastage" above)...those were cans of wal-mart special spray paint (im not only lazy, but im broke too) and when i find the cash and time, i WILL get to that because i KNOW how much better it makes paint look...and i only want the best for her (fsssh...yeh right) bottom line, the case cost me zero deniro, so i owe it zero concern as to what it looks like, if it looks nice, then it is purely because what i tried worked out, and thats good, if it dont, ill most likely sit on it till i get some funds to continue, i wont be too concerned...but ill say this... i have nothing but the Pimpz to thank for inspiring me to do what i did...so keep it up ![]() | ||
