| Here is what I have been working on. I have the "Foundation" built with a few more adjustments to be done. Here is the modifications I plan on making: 1) Changing most of the Bolts to 1/2 inch 2) Cleaning up the wiring 3) Mounting the CC 4) Hinging the top (To open and close) 5) Latching the top (To keep closed) 6) Covering the outside with a "Special Coating" 7) Cleaning up the wiring (including Looming, and replacing the dual IDE cable to a single) 8) PLacing some kind of "Design" on it...don't know what yet 9) Design it's own speaker system (would be in a seperate case) 10) Adding round Color rods to the corners of the box...which will change color when the CC is lit 11) A small LCD Display to be added in the future (When I have the money) 12) Replacing the PS flan with a clear one (which I currently have in stock) Hardware: Via APIA 933mhz mini-itx board running 256 PC2100 DDR, 6.4gb HD, Floppy, 16x DVD Rom, 145w PS, 1 Amber CC, 1 80mm Clear Fan. Well in short, I custom made the Plexi Box to fit inside the foam coated case. I wanted it to be portable, yet protected. I considered just mounting it in the Case, but all the pics of a case I have seen have not looked right. So I used ideas that I have seen around the web and combined them. I also wanted all the cables and accessories to be contained as well (Except the speakers mentioned above). The following three sets of pictures should explain the rest... | ||

| Wow Taz... that just screams LAN box to me. You could have fun with that too. Wear a trench coat and that hat, pretend you're some mafia/spy guy walking in... open it up and start playing. Aside from that, I don't know if you're going for a semi-industrial look with the things on the corners and how you mounted your switches... but it looks good. | ||

| Jeebus H. Kryste, that thing is friggin sweet. I swear man so many nice rigs here, I wish I had the creativity and imagination to think up of some stuff like that, I havent modded anything cuz I lack the mental resoucres to come up with an idea, painting seems like a pain in the ass, time consuming , which I do not have much of but I would love to give it a try if I knew I could do it w/ out friggin it up.. Mebbe one day...... | ||

I am...since you bring up the industrial look...the "Special Coating" will be the same as what High Rise Buildings use (the Silver Reflective)...so I am going for the Industrial Look. Thaks for the positive feedback so far! NoSlak...you can do it if you set your mind to it!

| It does not have the power to be a Lan Box...however it is ment to be a "Show Piece" that is a working computer, plays Music and plays DVD's on any TV with a RCA or SVideo Imput. Coel...yes very much so! I've been pondering it for about two months if I get (and wishes) what I'd do with it. So, for X-Mas I asked for and got. I had to make major adjustments to my original planning and sizing...it has been an adventure. Eventually it will be posted in the gallery....as I make the adjustments and mods to it...I'll be posting them here. | ||

| Clown...
Update: After spending 14 more hours I have made a few modifications: 1) I took the complete case apart and coated the sides with Silver Film. The film allows you to see inside the case when the CC is on, however when the CC is off, it becomes a reflective silver (almost like a mirror). 2) I removed the case from the DVD ROM drive...I'm almost done fabricating a new Front Plate. 3) I removed the case from the Floppy Drive and fabricated a new front plate. 4) I removed the case from the PS and fabricated a rear plate for the PS 5) I replaced the PS fan with a Clear Fan (Exactly like the one you see in the pictures above. I secured it to the case itself on an angle to force the air out from the back of the case. 6) I replaced all but two of the 3/4 inch bolts with 1/2 inch bolts. (I'm using the two 3/4 inch bolts to hold down the IDE cables for a cleaner look. 7) I've decided not to loom the wiring...while doing so I did not like the "Non-Industrial" look it was giving. By seeing the wires (Clean and Neat with Ties) it adds more color and Industrial look. I may revisit this later with a silver loom when funds become available. 8) I hinged the top so it will open and close. Because of the weight of the HD and Fan, and the tight fit inside the Foam Case there is no need to Latch the top. 9) I mounted the CC to the top of the case. The rest will have to wait for funding. Later in the day and or evening, after I get some sleep, I will post some new pics of the changes.
