window idea

ok im not sure if this has been done or not.what im trying to do now is apply the window so it is lifted from the case say 1/4 inch or so.has this ever been done and if so how does the final project look?

I recently finished something along those lines. At the top of both side panels on my Antec 1080 I cut several rhombus shaped windows (kinda like cutting out just the yellow or black from construstion tape). The plexi is positioned on the inside with just over a 1/4" gap from the metal creating a perfect vent. All of my fans are used as intake and lemme tell ya, that vent lets out a TON of air! I think it looks sweet, still need to paint the case though. Oh, and there are CC's beneath each plexi panel .

Nah, I don't think that'll be a prob with filters on all of the fans. I'm still buying the internals though, so only time will tell. Given the way it's mounted I can easily close it too, just gotta changeout the standoffs it's screwed to... it's not glued in, after all.

Unfortunately, my antique of a digital camera went the way of most antiques... Don't wanna use up any film until the case is done since I'm poor. I suppose the wife's webcam should do a good enough job though... I'll try and remember to post a couple caps before I leave for work tonight. (Back to bed right now.... mmmm.... bed....)

Okay, well I figured if I don't post 'em now I'll never get it done... please keep in mind that these were taken with a QuickCam (cough....hack...gasp!) There's only one UV CC in the case at the moment, but it's going to be replaced with two blue CCs under the windows on each side. And no.... this case is nowhere near finished, so please, no comments on the paint... errrr.. lack there of.

I'm sorry about all of the multiple posts, I don't know what the limit of pics per post is... yeah coulda photoshopped 'em into one image... but I'm tired.

Oh well... Sorry, like I said the only thing I had on hand to take a pic with quickly was a stupid webcam. I'll try to shoot some on film and post those sometime soon.

damn cre that does look sweet.after looking through my work space(being in the navy i would never miss use navy parts for my own betterment.) i found a couple spacers im going to use.they are all around 1/2 an inch to 3/4 inch in length.and top it off they are copper.

I finally got my CCFLs and two additional LED fans... all I can say is damn! Those blue CCFLs are BRIGHT! This case lights up the whole room! Finally found a match for the paint on an Antec 1080 too! Expensive (it's by Tamiya) but worth every cent and the color is extremely close to the original... goodbye little scratches (from the cutting process I'm not using any edging to cover the edges). I can't wait to get this thing done.

dude im in the same boat i figured hell everyone is useing edging round their window lets try something a bit more fun.sides edging in expensive unless you go out and buy the stuff at a auto shop.anyway update im almost done completely got the entire thing back together all im waiting on is my damn chuck for me to drill the holes to mount the window to the comp.damnit i lose the drill and find the chuck.now i find the drill but lost the chuck.life just aint fair sometimes :/
