| All case mod projects must begin somewhere. This one is on a piece of paper. What you see is a conceptual sketch of what I'm planning next, the fountain PC. It consists of a case inside of a case (all made of clear plastic). The space in between is filled with coolant (ethylene glycol). The PC components are inside the inner case, and everything (video card, northbridge, CPU, and power supply) is liquid cooled. Fluid is pumped from the bottom of the case, through the inner case and the components, and then ejected out of the top at high pressure. This causes the fluid to drip back down into the reservoir at the bottom. I plan to install a stobe and neon system inside that is synched with playing music. I think the lights glowing and flashing through a moving curtain of coolant would look awesome. I will continue to post to this thread as I formalize the design, acquire materials, and begin construction. | ||

| Its like those "Orange Drink" resivoirs at the Circle-K store. spouts out the top, flows down the sides and cycles back thru. Are you going to eliminate radiators and fans completly? how is the liquid going to displace the heat it gets from the components? And is the case-within-the-case going to be surrounded on 5 of 6 possible sides (allowing the drives to be accessable without going under-water? Sounds awesome as usual. Looking forward to it. | ||

| i can see a possible problem with upgrading/repairing parts. from the looks of it, that would require a complete draining of the system. any change a few drops might get inside when you open it up? not a major obstacle, but something that may need to be thought of if you hadn't already. prety much the same lines as the drive access. maybe just make that one wall removable. you would just have to unplug the drives every time you wanted to open the case. a PITA, but i would think it well worth the effect. another idea for the drives is to make "tunnels" for them between the inner and outer walls so that the water will just go around them. | ||

| Apex Advanced Techie | Isnt there still a requirement for air flow? With the entire case submerged like a submarine,(I spent 10 years on submarines in the USN) the power supply still has a fan that is moving air. Its a great idea but it needs something like a snorkle tube (LOL submarine life) for air circulation. | |
