Default Project Where is it?

A few days ago, I realized I had enough hardware for another rig. So I got cracking and contacted my sources (dad) for some free electronics. I got a Sylvania 960 hour time lapse VCR, originally costing $350 which was used in the security system at the Holiday Inn Express in Gahanna, Ohio. The goal of this project is stealth. So you won't see any windows, flashing lights or anything insane. This rig is being built to place on my TV and not look out of place. The hardware isn't anything good, just enough to watch pr0n, when I turn 18 ofcourse and listen to mp3's, which I legally own.

Intel Celeron 466Mhz
mATX Intel motherboard
64MB SDRAM PC100
1.6GB Hard drive
32X LiteOn CD-ROM
Generic 350Watt PSU

Oh yeah, the VCR was broken. No way in hell am I dumb enough to rip apart a kick ass expensive VCR.

Good luck on the project!! Looks like you won't be able to do much with the specs being low! And whats the deal with no porn till your 18!!!! Whats up with that???? The projects name should be something with "pron".......give it a name man!!!

The PSU was gutted, and excess wiring removed.

After tearing the VCR apart, removing excess plastic and that crap, I did a mock up with my hardware.

My current problems are how to attach the cassette flap thingy to the CD-ROM which is not close enough to just attach, how to make holes for the I/O stuff, since I'm doing this so far without power tools. I'm borowing a dremel on wednesday I think.

don't forget to wire up the remote so you can use it to control the dohickey thingamabob.

does the clock on the front still work? or do you want to put a LCD or VFD behind there. you have to have something there! a much bigger HD is going to be required since win 98 will barely fit on 1.6 gigs

You only need 300MB to install Win98. That leaves 1.3GB for programs. Nothing else though

Give the kid a break - he's doing the best with what he's got...more power to ya!

Exactly. I broke off the front LCD thingy, but I could add one, but that's out of my $0 budget. I don't think it's going to have much noise, with an 80mm fan and the hard drive making noise. It'll be drowned out by the sounds from the TV. As for the remote, I'm going to ask my dad if he still has it. And unfortunately I do not have enough room for PCI/AGP cards, unless I use riser cards, which I plan on buying.

Update:
I got some IDE cables and everything is done. Due to things that keep coming up, I still haven't gotten around to drilling out the I/O panel, but once that's done, I'll try to nab a digital camera for some nice pics.

As in drilling out individual hole for I/O ports?

Don't waste yr time... Steal an ATX I/O shield from a case and dremel out a square opening (unless theres no room) Directron sells them too

No dremel, but I have access to a drill occasionally, so I'll just make lots of drills around the edges and then just snap out the space for the I/O panel.

Got the mod done today. Used a dremel at my dad's work. Just gonna load OS on it this weekend when I get some time, and try to nab a digicam for some pics.
