etching

ok i just picked up my new craftsmen dremel set.comes with everything .now i need a lil help here my plan is to etch a stencil into the plexi.i've been practicing but this thing is driving me nuts.anyone have any tips for etching something into plexiglass.

kewl i have the same dremel

take that extention thingie, and put a small bit in it, like the 1 wit a round end

and then use that to etch things

To be more specific. you are looking for a bit similar to this one.

Tips, you defiintly want to take it slow when etch, make sure your dremel is also set to a lower speed, you want to engrave the plexi, not melt it.

Other than that there are other great ways to etch, you may want to look in to acid etching the window, you can pick up a acid etching kit at most craft stores

and make sure u wear safety glases (it flies)

yeah i kinda found out the hard way bout the safety goggles thing.(i shoulda known better considering im in the nav7yand use the things all the time.)i did two etchings for my window the first one was a test just so i got used to it the secound was the final project.came out awsome from what everyone is telling me

Well post a pic so we can see your work. I sandblast my etchings. I don't have a web cam yet so I can't post mine yet.
