This will be an ongoing post over the course of the week.

Insomniac found some new stuff to play with and he wanted to try it out on a computer case first. I'm not going to tell you what the new stuff is yet, but it rocks. So to get him a case to experiment with, the staff held a mini-lottery (just another benny for being a staff member) and the Big Dog won. WooHoo!

So I went into my junkyard and found an old monster A-Open HX08 lying in the bottom of a heap. Now, these cases rock as several members like Putwig can attest to, and they are big enough to fit just about anything inside. This particular case was used on the floor next to a desk in a military office, so many a boot kicked it around. It really needed some TLC.

I got the case shipped off to Insomniac and he sent me some of the first project pics. There used to be a bunch if indentations at the bottom and he filled those in and smoothed it out, and he has the base coat on it. The fancy stuff starts next. I'll be posting progress pics as I get them.

That case... so abused... so much potential...

These two are the first project pics. Based upon the labor and "special" material that will be going into this case, I would estimate that it would easily cost $1,000 to duplicate. Can't wait to see the next set of project pics.

Man it looks awesome, take your time and you will come out with something beautiful, i personal don't like full towers, but then again I only have 1 harddriver and CD-ROM and no watercooling... What are you planning to paint the inside/lighting setup?

I think he's thinking ceiling fan, window, some draperies....... maybe a nice Dali print over the fireplace.

And no exaggerating needed here. This will blow your socks off. ItÂ’s a new product and as always new means $$. And Insom is a professional so his hourly rate is up there as well............And he's worth every cent!

I will be painting the inside and chassis, but no lights. There will be no window in this case so lights are not needed. I will not be cutting any blowholes into the case either. What I will do is cut a hole into the bottom of the case for a LED 120mm and mount that near the front. I will have the PS and two 80mm fans doing the exhaust work. Of course, I will be cutting the grills out on the top back for the 2 80mm fans.

The case will end up being my primary rig, but it will also be a work of art.

BA, for some reason the red paint used on the parts looks kinda like the red on the truck in your sig...

Must admit, very nice base paint job... will keep tuned in..

With Insom behind the air its hard telling, but you can bet your left...yeah its going to be sweet.

Insomniac has already sent me some updates. He asked if I liked Tribal or Classic flames; I told him classic all the way bro.

Dude's, Insomniac lives, eats, breaths, and sleeps painting and auto restoration. The guy is a master.
