Cool ok well i may be nuts with this mod

ok guys heres the dealio my old 233 is getting warm no or days so here is what i have planned i have 3 fans and one has a round end to hook the tubing into and i will have another fan to push the air in and down and out to the fan on the case which in turn will blow right onto the HSF and cool it off. Yes this project is almost done im getting the tubing (actually its dryer ducting but it all works either way )tomorrow as well as my web cam.

i scanned the idea on paper and what i have so far

FYI

That should keep it a couple degrees cooler! Sounds similar to what Dell uses. I thought about doing something like that with clear tubing, but never got around to it. Now that summer's coming up, my temps are getting higher, so maybe it's time to revisit the idea!

Keep us posted!

So basically it's a Duct mod?

I'm surprised the Pentium 1 is overheating..I thought they didn't make a lot of heat!

What are your temps at now?

Yeah, but you have to put a heatsink on them.

You got a heatsink on that mother?

Is this bringin air in form outdoors? If so, remember to put a filter on that bad boy.

edit: If you really want to see a difference I'd put a 120 with an 80mm adapter on the outside. Since it's outside, look into a good high-flow fan. I'd probably also consider putting a second fan on the inside end of the duct, to ensure good aiflow and pressure. How long is the duct gonna be?

So your plan is to have it work something like this, right? (though I dunno how you have your other fans set up)

I took that pic from SVC, where they sell the above kit (link) to do just what you're describing. Anyway, seems like the ducting wouldn't be that hard to set up on your own, as long as you found a good way to attach the ends. From your description, it sounds like you'll have two 80mm fans, one at each end, plus one 80mm fan-to-duct adapter?

Incidentally, that duct-kit manufacturer's claimed 15C improvement must've been measured in a really badly ventilated case (lined with wool blankets, maybe?). Tim at Overclockers' Club measured a more-realistic 5C improvement under load with his duct mod. And I remember a mod in our own galleries where someone used a drinking glass as a duct (link). That guy claimed 15C, but that's with a new HSF, too.

heh thats not even close my plan is to have the air from outside come in on the side of the case and blow right directly onto the passive HSF

Ohhhh, OUTSIDE outside....

Maybe you should call the project O2, the symbol for oxygen gas (goes along with the fresh air thing), or maybe just short for OUTSIDE outside

Might condensation, or just plain old humidity in the morning air, pose a bit of a dilemma?

I've got some, but shipping would cost more than going over to Home Depot and picking it up...it's really cheap - only a coupla buX
