| ok this is something that i have been keeping underwraps and have decided to let it out if you have ever wanted more raw power then this project is for you CAN YOU SAY 1000 WATTS here is what i am using 5 old AT style psu's and having each voltage on its own channel psu 1 12v psu 2 5v and so on so id like to hear back about this and tell me if im just crazy enough to do it or not and if you'd like to ask why, that works too Last edited by stereomod; 03-May-04 at 02:30 AM.. | ||

| jez i just posted this 3 mins ago and i already have 3 replys ok that ever lingering question of why well after talking to necro via msn i decided that i wasn't well enough known so this has been something that i have been working on for a while and would kinda like to be the one to think of it imagine this a big 1000 watt psu and never having to worry about lag due to power drain it would be great for all those who are hardcore gamers but for now this is just a work in progress once its done this summer i will have the AT connections and a 1000 watt ATX psu also ![]() | ||

yes but if you had paid attention i said that i was starting this AT one for starters then working on a ATX (ive mooded ATX psu's and rebuilt them as well) one as well, and well if i use most of it then i will be happy with that i have already done the power current and everything each voltage line will be ruuning off its own psu and the ones that i have are rated 200 watts each so i'll have plenty of power

| I have an older 600w Enermax, about 3-4 years old, it is practically 2 ATX PSUs in one.I dont remember the model as I removed the label a long time ago. It has 2 boards, 1 is for -+12v and the second board handles -+5v and below, and it is stable as hell.I bought it new and it has been through many machines, been shorted many many times and it is still as stable and hearty as the day I bought it. So there are ways to get the same type of thing without all the work and expense. This could possibly cost you a small fortune to get what you really want, as you would need very good PSUs to begin with to get the stable voltages you want in the first place.A bunch of cheap PSUs will probably do no better than one really good PSU.A lot of cheap PSUs voltages are not just unstable due to load issues but also poor circuit design usually in the hi-pot side of the circuit. They have very poor rectifying and noise filtering curcuitry, and use poor quality components that their properties change with the slightest change in temperature with no circuitry to compensate. | ||

do you have the link for that site? edit: just sitting here thinking i would but theres just one problem there are -5v lines and -12 volt lines as well hmm so that makes thing much harder Last edited by stereomod; 04-May-04 at 06:39 AM..
