| Apex Techie Lite | Ok guys, bear with me because this is my first work log. I am working on converting an old honda motorcycle gas tank into a case. This is what the tank looked like in its original glory. ![]() This is where I am at with it....I am still awaiting approval for entry into the contest but figured I would go ahead and start the worklog anyway. ![]() I have cut the bottom out of the tank ![]() this is just a top view of the gas tank... ![]() Well sorry for the pics.. I will have to work on that..using photobucket now but trying to find something better..Will update as I move along with the project Last edited by IcemanLU606; 29-July-08 at 12:54 AM.. | |

Don't think you need "approval" ... just go and post your intention of competing, and which worklog you're submitting (only 1 per contestant -- a link is good) and make sure you put "PCApex" somewhere in the pictures so folks will know it's for this site & contest. (I'm just going to watermark mine w/ an image app.) -godling, who realizes, suddenly, that he needs to get going ... ![]()

| Apex Techie Lite | Having a heck of a time getting pics to show up here. They show in the preview but i get this error message... You are only allowed to post URLs to other sites after you have made 15 posts or more. The problem is that I am linking to the pics I uploaded to the PCApex...any ideas? | |

| Apex Techie Lite | Anyone have any ideas for extending the connections on the back of the mb. There is no flat surface on the back of the tank and I want the connections to go there. I thought maybe female to male connectors but there has to be a better way..... | |

You could just run the appropriate cables into the tank and connect to the mobo there. You don't *have* to have a "backplate" on the case ... just run a gas nozzle to the back end, and fill it with wiring like a giant heat-shrink for a boatload of cables. Very steampunk! -godling

| Apex Techie Lite | Hey guys! It's been busy around here. It is Fair week here so I have had limited time to work on my project. I did manage to get the bottom and the two ends cut out at the shop. I scored a sweet gas cap at a local motorcycle shop called Interstate Motorcycles. They just gave it to me...Sweet huh? The only other thing I have been able to do is some shopping. Picked up a motherboard. a key switch, some new LEDs, and a couple of switches. I pulled the CD-rom out of one of my old machines and I am ready to void the warranty on it..lol. I will try and post some pics tonight of what I have done so far. Lots of ideas flowing thru my mind about this project. No way I will have it finished by the deadline but I will give one heck of a shot. I lined up a guy to paint the tank for me since my skills are lacking in that area. Till next time see you guys later. Last edited by IcemanLU606; 02-August-08 at 09:39 AM.. | |
