Lightbulb YOUR mission should you choose to accept it...

Yes yes I have an idea

Woah!!!! I hear you cry - " the dumass has awoken with an idea!!!!"
Pah! you fools i have loads of ideas, its carrying then out that gives problems - i dont have the knowledge nor the resourses to do so.

I had this idea while pondering over the galleries, especially Digital-Worlds, and looking at the MAX3 motherboard series.

Water cooling. Its everywhere. On the hard drive, direct core cooling, northbridge, VPU, CPU, southbridge ive even seen on a partcular setup - but how about a dare? A dare for osmeone to try something water cooled that no-one I know has tried.

When considering the space between one of these components - its only feasable for dual channel motherboards - OOOPS! gave it away. But its not just the memory I wish to be cooled, how about the 4/6 way volt switchety things that the max 3 considers for air cooling.

I can say from a fairly noob perspective that water cooling these 2 comonents cant really be that hard. the memory would have to be one stick, or 2 on dual channel, giving sufficient space for a channeled flow of water on both sides of the stick overclocking would be a doddle.

the 4/6 way switches would obviously differ for motherboards, but just think voltage switches running at 30C - ahhh blisss.... shhhhheeeeaaaarrrr bliss.

What are the factors involved that I havent seen - should I be copy righting this crap im writing?!?!?

actually,

so what do you people think?

Umm.... Ram doesn't need to be cooled very much if at all in 99.99% of cases, infact the metal sinks on some of them usually aren't needed.

D00d, I totally overclocked my floppy drive. Had to put it on watercooling, it was getting so HAWT.

seriously, though, it isn't necessary.

OK now let me see here...
I'll bet that I can break less bones in my body,
jumping off the roof, onto the concrete drive way, than you..
bet?...
OK you go first...
Oohhh....
yup you WIN...
I prolly would break more....

Now some needed things:
Ducted air on to H/S'ed MOSFET's good for 2.7ghz AMD style.
Memory: Peeled BH-5 winbond open air, spreaders not needed...3.1vDIMM 460fsb

I'm as nutz as the next guy for taking chances....but every block you plumb is potential for a leak, some of those potential leaks are not worth the gains they provide...

Cooling your southbridge is just stupid, its warm to the touch without a heatsink, with a bga ram cooler on it its room temp or less.

I think it would be interesting to see watercooled RAM. I wouldn't mind watercooling the RAM on my Radeon 9000 after feeling the chips on a 40 MHz OC...
