Default fixing the stealthdesk

hey all,

some of you might remember my initial mod, Stealthdesk head over to the gallery, it might refresh your mind.

alright i made this about 6 months ago and its been giving me heat problems non stop, at least i think its hot, ill put up a few pics probably in 2-3 days plus a cad drawing of my case.

the case i have now is perspex with 2x 120mm fans at the front and 2x120mm fans at the back, the design is kinds like a computer on its side, its pretty f**ked up coz i never took the time to design the case properly and ive been paying the price ever since. so now im asking for peoples assistance to help me design and create a new case.

im hoping to make this case out of some sort of metal and no more perspex lol. my perspex case actually has a top but i haven't put it on because i think that was the initial problem.
i used to have 4 hdds, 3 setup in raid and 1 as a c: drive. one of the hdds failed in the raid and i lost 500gb of data from a 1.2TB raid, to get it all back the cheapest i was quoted was $4000AUD i thought not worth it and moved on. now i think that the problem was because i had the top on the perspex, most probably too much heat was created than could be pushed through from the fans and since it was plastic it kept the heat in rather than conduct it out. hence i no longer use the top of the perspex or have the middle drawer in as you will see when i put my pics up.

the overall internal dimensions of the timber drawer:

wide: approx 34cm but the current case is 27cm because im running the cables /IO side of motherboard(look at the pics you'll understand)

long:approx 80cm, perspex case is 70cm long

height:current case is 16cm, if need be i always thought of making it like a two storey case and just screwing the face of the middle drawer to the bottom drawer

the main problem i have is the cable management, i think i actually need to turn the motherboard around, i thought about having the IO side of the motherboard face the front of the drawer and then cut a hole in the bottom of the drawer and run the cables underneath the drawer, but then i thought there may be probs with where fans need to go.

im hoping to make this case out of some sort of metal and no more perspex lol. my perspex case actually has a top but i haven't put it on because i think that was the initial problem.

i am really sorry bout such a long post and im sorry about the delay in gettin some pics up, all help will definetly be appreciated and put to good use!
