Hey Thanx eascarface for the info on the Gigabyte 780G I looked further into it and it also has optical out so thats definitely a plus and its the same price.. change made to list im going with the gigabyte board...

A little size comparison


This Is what I was talking about when I said the Tape Loading tray was slanted and I think I could fit a slim DVD-RW Rom in there..




This project is on hold for now.. due to Finals coming up... but I will continue getting parts in as I go and post pics up...

Oh SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at all those buttons on the front and front right.
If you can keep the play/stop/rewind/forward butons active with that DVD that would be smokin.
Hook your fans to the front right....

Remember as you're diassambling to save and label EVERYTHING even if you can't see how you would use it because you may figure out down the road it's exactly what you need. You can recycle the electronics as easily a year after you're done as you can right now.

Looking good bro, let me know if you need a slim DVD drive. I'm doing a similar home theater project, and I'm switching to slot load drives, so I have one laying around. Keep up the good work.

I'm hoping to make most of the buttons functional.. and I have an Idea for the tv input.. I think I'm going to use this bc of its small size and plus their on sale at my work (radioshack) and I get a discount on top of the $59.99 sale price...

PM'd you back darkboricua, I was going to mount the tuner card inside using the existing internal usb slots then perhaps run a cable to the back and use a coax coupler like this

to mount it to the back.. though it would give it a clean look.. still thinking about other inputs though... I would really like a hdmi in or component...

Maybe expand that and add audio ports etc, and let it sit in the existing tape slot

Well... won a bid on a 500 gb Western Digital Caviar Green Power hard drive, and a bid on a AMD X2 5000+ Brisbane 65w. I ordered the Gigabyte 790g motherboard and the heatsink and the Memory. When everything gets in I will start mock-up and assembly...
