Default project - XGS

I know Exactly what some of you are thinking....
Why is he starting yet another project when he still has at least another 6 to still finish??
Well, this ones a Christmas present for my Son Daniel as he's been asking for a "gween motorbike 'puter" for months now!!
XGS - Simply means - Xmas. Green. Superbike.

Plan -

I'm not going to do any heavy case mods to this one instead I'm going to concentrate on the paint this time!
Theme - Superbike, and yeh I know its already been done by Coolermeister and what an Inspiring piece of art to live up to!! Hope you don't mind the similarity in themes Dude!!
I will however add a window and some more detailed mods later down the road when I can get some nicer hardware for him!

Hardware -

Yep Coel, it's another imedia by packard bell! This'll be the last I hope lol
xp EssentialII
Amd Duron "spitfire" @ 1.0ghz
Samsung Sdr 512mb
Via ms-6340 sckt 462
Wd 20gb hdd
No-name psu 250watt
dvd rom
cd re-writer
bla bla bla

so anyway here's the imedia in all its packard "hell" glory!
Watch this space...

Superbike theme will kick butt.

I would just surf Ebay for used motorcycle parts until something inspires you.
It;s been done before, but it's cool, a gas cap assembly from a motorcycle tank on top for an exhaust fan, or make your own motorcycle gauge pod for the front, you use the gauges from a CoolerMaster Musketeer

Sorry but no pics guys...

Well today I basically stripped the case down to its chassis.
I've taken the panels and chassis out to my parents as I don't really have anywhere 'safe' to do the prep work etc unless i do it outdoors, however, the weather out here is pretty rank plus my dad has a decent sized garage which he uses as a workshop so I thought, why not take advantage of this while I have a chance!

1st thing on my list is to sand back the panels to get a nice surface to lay down some primer on.
2nd will be to get the primer done.
Next week I'll hopefully be purchasing the paints so watch out for some nice bright green paint being layed down!!

As for now, - I'm going to start some bench runs on the hardware and look for any weak spots and what mods/tweaks I can do!

Maybe you can find cylinder heads with cooling fins - from a lawn mower, moped, or any other aircooled motor, and mount one on each side of the case.... that would look cool...
And you could even have the sparkplugs mounted.

You could make an "oil-tank" outta an old tin, like small coffee tin, soup tin etc... mount with metal straps.
Of course emblem from favorite bike on front bezel...

I've been checkin in on this mod since the day it went up, I really like that case I think its a great starting point. Anyways, onto the reason I finally posted, I've finally been inspired. I think you should treat the whole case as its one part, maybe make it look kinda like a big air scoop. I think you should rake the top of the front "frame" so the top came out a little more, then painted the frame part chrome, and then filled everything in with mesh and stealthed drives in that, and finally paint the main case body green. Maybe a number too, would make it more identifyable. You could get away without tilting the bezel too, I just think that'd add to the look. Anyways, hope maybe I gave ya some sparks, and sorry if anyone feels I stepped on their toes, I know a lot of my ideas were similar to ones mentioned. I'll be keepin track of this project, and g'luck!

Tonight I'm gonna make a start stripping back to the bare metal and yeh, you guessed it!
I'm going to polish it up ala HTRN stylee!! Daniel saw the pics and really liked it so I thought it would be really sweet if he could have one of his very own
update as soon as I can...
